Incredible location, wonderful local shop/cafe, proximity to Loch, the fireplace, the small number of pods, amount of activities for the children. We came as a group with children aged 9 to 12 and it was a fantastic weekend.

    Disliked:

Lack of hot water and plug for washing up in the communal area. A drinking water tap by the pods would be a brilliant addition.

Peaceful/ Cosy Pods - fairly warm (fan supplied) & midgie net over the window. Wee bar which serves.bottled beers/ food also (opens usually after 6 - 11 or 1am on saturday) - bar has plenty of games - pool/ darts/ upstairs - air hockey table/ fuseball for the kids. Also outside nice kids play area and big open grass space for them to kick a ball around. Theres also individual bbq spaces by each pod and table and chairs next to each pod. Shore area is good for swimming/ watersports/ boat hire there also/ great for kayaking. Bile hire nearby and some lovely wee streams / scenery around also/ fishing with permits only. Wee shop (random hours - call ahead), sells some basic items - quite pricey! (£5.50 for a small disposable bbq!!). Post office is the counter to the right as you enter the cafe/ shop. The cafe/ shop/ post office all located in same small building (order coffee etc at the open window). Lovely scenery. Nearest shop for lidl/ aldi/ tesco/ m&s is Oban. Theres a nice pub in Kilchrenan (bout 10min drive). Theres also fresh farm eggs (£2 a box of 6 avail at the 1st cottage at the Junction cut off b845/ a85 as you turn into the sharp bend - the cottage is to the left as you made the next bend). Wood for firepit is available at Rose Cottage. Bar/ restaurant staff lovely beside the pods. Lovely break - comfy pods.

    Disliked:

2 toilets/ showers only £1 for a 2min shower - but the shower water doesnt drain well and the machine where you add the coin is temperamental. Also the other thing it would be better if the pods had tvs/ wifi avail as phone reception also can be a bit tricky.

Dalavich is 14 miles from the turn off at Taynuilt which is a left turn just before you enter the village of Taynuilt. As you approach Dalavich from Taynuilt direction you will cross River Avich on a right hand bend over the bridge and shortly after, you'll see a sign for Dalavich on the left hand side of the road.

Local attractions

Walks, watersports and hikes around Loch Awe are all immediately accessible here, and if you're feeling adventurous you could even paddle over to the island of Innis Chonnel for another view of the area. Loch Avich, roughly 10 minutes’ drive away, is also close by and has more opportunities for rambling and admiring the ruins of long-gone medieval castles and crannogs.

For more history, head to Dunadd Fort (35 minutes), an Iron Age hillfort believed to have been the centre of the ancient kingdom of Dal Riata, which emerged in this part of Argyll after the Romans abandoned their hopes of conquering Scotland. If you like your castles to be a bit more intact, you should try Kilchurn Castle (45 minutes) or Dunstaffnage Castle and its equally impressive chapel (50 minutes).

The planned town of Inveraray (an hour and 10 minutes) should also be on your itinerary, whether you're intrigued by its past as a clan seat, its gorgeous castle gardens, the historic jailhouse and neoclassical buildings or are on the lookout for a starting point for exploring the coastal shores of Loch Fyne.
