  • Peaceful and well-equipped Antrim park on the shores of Lough Neagh
  • Half an hour's drive to Belfast; 40 minutes to The Dark Hedges
  • Secret beach on site, plus play area, woodlands and high-ropes course
Might the words ‘secret beach’ be enough to tempt you to this site? It’s quite likely – but that’s just one of the attractions that awaits at this fabulous Co. Antrim holiday park. Castlewood Holiday Park is on the banks of Lough Neagh, tucked away in a lovely woodland setting and, yes, with its own secret beach on the lakeshore. It’s termed ‘secret’ because you’ll need to follow a kilometre-long trail through the woods to get to the sandy beach, where you can paddle in the cool water or grab a deckchair or sun lounger and put your feet up while admiring the watery views. That’s likely to be a highlight, but there’s much more to explore at this family-friendly park, which also has a large play area, a teepee village serving up food and drinks, and a treetop high-ropes course for visiting daredevils (there’s an extra charge for this, but site guests benefit from a discount). All sounds very peaceful, right? And indeed it is – but it’s also very handily located just on the edge of Antrim town, so it’s as easy to get to a supermarket, coffee shop or railway station as it is to find a waterside walk, a golf course or a castle or garden to visit. Getting out to explore the rest of Northern Ireland should be simple, too – Belfast is half an hour’s drive away, and places like Giant’s Causeway and The Dark Hedges are within an hour’s journey.
