  • An acre of exclusive-use space with a picnic table and barbecue
You’re pretty much guaranteed rural peace and solitude at Faraway Farm, a tiny pop-up site down a private track five minutes’ drive from the sleepy village of Othery in Somerset – for you’ll be the only guests there. Yes, you get to stay in a spacious bell tent in an acre of ancient orchard surrounded by fields and farm buildings, and have it all to yourselves. Laid out with a double bed (linens can be supplied for an extra cost), lighting, storage and pretty rugs, the tent is best suited to couples keen to get away for a romantic break à deux. There’s also private parking and a camping toilet for your sole use. On balmy days you can eat outside, or cosy up around the barbecue – there is both a pub and a farm shop within five minutes’ drive – at the latter they also do a nice line in Somerset scrumpy tasting – and Langport (15 minutes’ drive) has large supermarket as well as a couple of pubs and takeaways. Once you’re installed on site, you’ll have time to soak up uninterrupted views of the Somerset Levels, go birdwatching or take long walks directly from your tent – go armed with binoculars to spot harriers and kingfishers in the wetlands.
