  • Well-kept and peaceful park with stunning views of Dorset’s coastline
  • Weymouth and Abbotsbury Swannery both 15 minutes’ drive
  • Licensed shop and South West Coast Path access on site
Need a good dose of fresh Dorset air? You'll get exactly that at Sea Barn Farm Camping Park, 15 minutes’ drive from Weymouth – along with spectacular views of Fleet Lagoon, Lyme Bay, Chesil Bank and the Isle of Portland straight from the pitches. In fact, the play area has probably one of the best views along the Dorset coastline – and if you get your timings right of an evening, you’ll hopefully also witness stunning sunsets over the sea. This 11-acre holiday park is part of a beef and cereal farm with land running right down to Fleet Lagoon, an internationally protected nature reserve and wildfowl haven. It’s about 10 minutes’ walk to the lagoon and the South West Coast Path along the specially created farm walk, which passes a wildlife habitat for bees and birds (please keep any dogs on a lead when on the trail). There’s no need to stray very far from home base once you're installed, as Sea Barn Farm has a licensed on-site shop selling groceries, wines, beers, toys, camping gas and hardware. Other handy facilities include a shower and toilet block, as well as covered washing-up sinks and a fully equipped launderette.

What customers say

Visitors praise the site's stunning sea views, clean facilities, and peaceful atmosphere. Many highlight the well-maintained pitches and good location for exploring. However, some found the numerous rules restrictive and the staff unwelcoming. Older shower blocks are noted as dated, and shop opening hours can be limited. Manager replies indicate ongoing improvements and clarifications on policies.

Electric grass campervan pitch

Liked Lovely views, clean pitches

Disliked Nothing to do, shop shelves nearly empty, no fresh produce on offer, shower block old and dated, showers not hot and have to keep one hand on the push button at all times or water stops after 3 seconds, nowhere private to undress before entering shower, have to take everything in the shower so gets wet.

From the manager: Hi Thank you for your review. We have 2 shower blocks one newer than the other, but both spotlessly keen. Our new block has a partitioned area for clothes while you are showering, our older block has hooks. Most people undress in the shower area before turning the water on. Shower temperatures are set by our heating engineer to run at a safe temperature for everyone. for some this is too hot, some too cold and some just right, In our new block there is a small temperature adjustment range for customers to use.
If you let us know when you were chatting to staff that the showers were not running long enouth, we could have got the shower time adjusted,. There are several showers for you to choose from .
Our shop is stock with a large selection but a small quantity of each as most people arrive with all they need. The shop is treated as a emergency top up but unfortunately for us, we cannot afford to hold lots of stock that will go out of date.
Please be reminded that we only allow dogs on the farm and camping park that are kept on a lead. You were advised of this before you visit but chose to ignore this. You are obviously not happy about being reminded of this.

Will definitely be visiting again

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The location and views were amazing. No problems at all.

Disliked The field at the end of the site had much better views than the first field so would have preferred a pitch down there.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Fantastic position of campsite with sea view on three sides. Provision of dog walk downhill towards the sea. Generally campers were observant of the rules which makes this campsite very quiet.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Modern clean toilet/shower block with plenty of space to change. Sea view is great, private farm walk is a lovely way to enjoy it. Shop is convenient however opening hours are limited. Wasn't very busy, location is good for access to Weymouth, bus stop about 30-40 minutes walk, taxi back was around £16. Some reviews mentioned the rules being excessively strict, they seem reasonable and are not enforced that harshly, we were up until 1am one night and we weren't the only ones, as long as you are quiet no one will bother you.

Disliked Camp shop is well stocked but opening hours are irregular, only one hour in morning and in evening. It is advertised however longer hours would be more convenient. Didn't use WiFi as it is charged, had mobile signal on most of the park anyway.

From the manager: Hi
You stayed over the bank holiday weekend and the shop was open all day from 8.30 am to at least 6pm??
At other times when the park has less guests, the shop is open and hour in the morning and afternoon.

Great views and facilities, but poor welcome and restrictive rules

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch (sea view)

Liked * Fantastic views and a beautiful setting.
* Quiet and peaceful atmosphere.
* Great facilities and a well-maintained site.
* Clean surroundings and a relaxing environment.
* We camp regularly around the country. Love ❤️ campin.

Disliked Overall, the site benefits from fantastic views, a peaceful atmosphere, and good facilities. However, despite these positives, we would not return.

We paid extra for a sea-view pitch, yet were required to position our tent in a way that did not face the view, which seemed to defeat the purpose of paying for it. We also found the rules around pitch setup unnecessarily restrictive and were not given any explanation as to why certain arrangements were required.

The biggest disappointment was the lack of hospitality. We camp regularly and, for us, the people are a huge part of the experience. On several occasions we passed members of staff without even receiving a simple greeting. The site felt more focused on rules and procedures than making guests feel welcome.

We were also asked to display a sticker on our car, and it was unclear why this was necessary. Personally, I do not particularly want to advertise where I am staying by displaying stickers on my vehicle.

At £42 per night for a tent pitch with electric, the site is more expensive than many we use. While the views and facilities were excellent, the lack of warmth, flexibility and customer-focused service meant it did not represent good value for us, and we would not choose to return.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Loved the view from our pitch, also nice and flat. Quiet at nights

Disliked The older shower block very dated. Cold showers in both blocks.

From the manager: Hi, We are so glad you enjoyed your stay.
The hot water was working the whole time during your stay. When the showers are not being used, it does take a minute or two for the water to start running hot. It might be that you like a really hot shower and ours are set for a safe temperature for everyone.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Been coming since before our children were born and we love it.
Quiet location
Beautiful site - the views are incredible
Showers with temperature changes! Woo!
Pitch sizes are good. We think we had one of the smallest pitches but was still a decent size albeit abit of a squeeze with a big car and big tent.
Useful shop

Disliked Not dislikes but just things we noticed
Weve been coming for over 10 years and dont think the amenities have been updated at all. One shower / toilet block could really do with a revamp (tap came off in someone's hand etc) but the other is nice enough.
Whilst the no visitors rule is understandable for big groups - not allowing grandparents in for an early evening bbq felt a bit mean.
Couldn't access the WiFi that was advertised but thats no bad thing.
Would be useful (and some extra pennies for the site) to offer freezer block refreezing in the bottom of the ice cream freezer (there are some in there but not to buy).
Always felt a bit on an inconvenience to the reception staff - we rang to say we'd be pretty close to 7pm due to traffic etc but still got a call at 650 asking how close we were.
Can see in previous reviews that the team seem to focus on the dislikes but as I say not dislikes at all... just notes.

From the manager: We are so glad you love our beautiful park.
Our new facilities block with underfloor heating, private sinks etc was built in 2009. Plans were underway to rebuild the far toilet block in 2020, but we are still recovering from the financial hit. Hopefully in the next few years. It is clean and functional and if you love the sunset end of the park, its handy to have this facilities block available so it is less far to walk to the loos.
We stopped doing icepack exchange in 2020 for obvious reasons and found that by selling ice cubes and frozen bottle of water this was much more hygienic for everyone.

Local attractions

Birdwatchers should keep binoculars to hand when wandering about the site, or you can head for Fleet Lagoon (10 minutes’ walk) to watch the antics of shell ducks, waders, coots and terns while listening to the skylarks in the fields around. Set around a tumbledown medieval monastery, Abbotsbury Swannery (15 minutes’ drive) is famed for its mute swans, with their cygnets hatching during late May and June. There are furry – rather than feathered – friends to be found at Kingston Maurward Animal Park and Gardens (25 minutes) in the shape of donkeys, alpacas and cheeky goats. If the kids haven’t seen enough wildlife by then, no doubt you’ll be heading for Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre (40 minutes) to meet the primates or join keeper talks about chimps and gibbons. Try to squeeze a little culture into your offspring with a tour of Victorian-era Nothe Fort (20 minutes), where you can also take a boat trip around the harbour. If that fails to spark young minds, perhaps the sandy beach and observation wheel at Weymouth (15 minutes) will be more of a hit.
