  • Well-kept and peaceful park with stunning views of Dorset’s coastline
  • Weymouth and Abbotsbury Swannery both 15 minutes’ drive
  • Licensed shop and South West Coast Path access on site
Need a good dose of fresh Dorset air? You'll get exactly that at Sea Barn Farm Camping Park, 15 minutes’ drive from Weymouth – along with spectacular views of Fleet Lagoon, Lyme Bay, Chesil Bank and the Isle of Portland straight from the pitches. In fact, the play area has probably one of the best views along the Dorset coastline – and if you get your timings right of an evening, you’ll hopefully also witness stunning sunsets over the sea. This 11-acre holiday park is part of a beef and cereal farm with land running right down to Fleet Lagoon, an internationally protected nature reserve and wildfowl haven. It’s about 10 minutes’ walk to the lagoon and the South West Coast Path along the specially created farm walk, which passes a wildlife habitat for bees and birds (please keep any dogs on a lead when on the trail) There’s no need to stray very far from home base once you're installed, as Sea Barn Farm has a licensed on-site shop selling groceries, wines, beers, toys, camping gas and hardware. Other handy facilities include a shower and toilet block, as well as covered washing-up sinks and a fully equipped launderette.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch (sea view)

Liked We loved the view from the tent it was beautiful.
The site was clean, tidy and well looked after. We only used the top toilets as that was closest to our tent. Showers were lovely and warm, also great the temperature could be adjusted.
Play area was also clean and looked after, my 3 had a great time down there and what a view it has.
I read all the reviews before we picked this site to stay on. A lot of people mention the site rules to be fair they are nothing more than you would expect from any campsite of that nature family friendly and peaceful and nothing we hadn’t come across before. Also the lady in reception gets bad press she was also pleasant and explained where to find our pitch, how to pitch our tent, sticker for the car (which doesn’t have to be stuck anywhere can just lay it on dashboard) and gave us a map& 1 side of side rules and general information. Yes she did ring to see where we were I did pick between 4-5pm to arrive and it was around 6pm but we didn’t know the motorway was shut and it was going to add 2 hours onto our journey when we booked. We should have got there 3.30pm on our sat nav but it wasn’t an issue she rang to check saves her sitting around.
So dark at night kids loved looking at the stars and seeing the bats whizz around over head

Liked Lovely clean campsite, nice and quiet with very clean toilet/ shower block.
Lots of info on arrival, including a map (so easy to find the right pitch) and even a route for a nice walk along the coast.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch (sea view)

Disliked Het oude sanitair blok.

Electric grass campervan pitch

Liked Pitch size

Disliked Lots of old facilities, proximity to the water but not allowed to use it. Very strict rules, families won’t want that.

From the manager: We are situated with fabulous views over the Fleet nature reserve and English Channel
We advertise wonderful walks and views. We do not advertise that there is swimming near the park. The nearest swimming beach is 5 miles away in Weymouth.

The Fleet Nature reserve is an area of Special Scientific Interest an is owned and operated by the Ilchester Estate. Access to the foreshore is not permitted to preserve the wildlife.
Also it is not safe to enter the water due to tidal flow and soft mud.

Our park rules are very standard across most respectful camping parks for the safety and enjoy of all our guest. They are all common sense when being respectful to other people and their property.

The word No is often confused with poor customer service. "No" is a reasonable response to a question. "No" is not bad customer service. It is a service provider doing there job for the enjoyment of all our guest. The word "No" often gets us a one star rating.
Our guests who do not ask unreasonable questions, usually give us a 9 or a 10. Such is life....

Local attractions

Birdwatchers should keep binoculars to hand when wandering about the site, or you can head for Fleet Lagoon (10 minutes’ walk) to watch the antics of shell ducks, waders, coots and terns while listening to the skylarks in the fields around. Set around a tumbledown medieval monastery, Abbotsbury Swannery (15 minutes’ drive) is famed for its mute swans, with their cygnets hatching during late May and June. There are furry – rather than feathered – friends to be found at Kingston Maurward Animal Park and Gardens (25 minutes) in the shape of donkeys, alpacas and cheeky goats. If the kids haven’t seen enough wildlife by then, no doubt you’ll be heading for Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre (40 minutes) to meet the primates or join keeper talks about chimps and gibbons. Try to squeeze a little culture into your offspring with a tour of Victorian-era Nothe Fort (20 minutes), where you can also take a boat trip around the harbour. If that fails to spark young minds, perhaps the sandy beach and observation wheel at Weymouth (15 minutes) will be more of a hit.
