  • Wild-style family camping on a small farm on the edge of Exmoor
  • A 40-minute drive to the north Devon coast; Tarr Steps 25 minutes
  • Kitchen facilities and lounge area for guests; animals to meet on site
Simple, but oh-so-lovely… a family-friendly stay at Camping at Headgate Farm on Exmoor, 15 minutes' drive from South Molton, takes you away from the online entertainments of the modern world and encourages you to enjoy things like sunset watching, barbecue cooking and hanging out with friendly farm animals. Among the gang you'll meet at this Devon pop-up site are horses, donkeys, sheep and chickens, along with star of the show Sammy, a pig who'll happily sit for treats. It's likely you'll see a fair amount of wildlife nearby too, as the farm setting is on the edge of Exmoor. That means plenty of scope for getting out for hikes, bike rides and other outdoor activities in the spectacular wild landscapes, and possibly the chance to see the sturdy Exmoor ponies that roam here. And don't forget that Exmoor runs right up to the coast, so you can add beach days, boat trips, watersports and coast walks to your itinerary too. Life on site is fairly simple, but there are some comforts provided for guests (off-site but within a short walk of the farmhouse) – including a comfy indoor space where you can use the kitchen facilities (including a fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle) and flop out in an armchair. Toilets, showers and a washing-up area are also provided (along with a wifi service for those of you who really can't keep away from the online world…)
