  • No-frills Lizard Peninsula camping with sea views near Porthleven
  • A 10-minute drive from Praa Sands beach
  • Dog-friendly grass pitches; pubs, shops and surfing 15 minutes’ walk
Fancy a relaxed sojourn near a gorgeous coastal village in Cornwall – and one with the option of surfing? In that case, it’s time to consider a stay at Treza Camping, an easygoing no-frills spot on the Lizard Peninsula that’s 15 minutes’ walk from both the pretty fishing harbour at Porthleven and its renowned surfing beach. Life on this site, on a working farm overlooking the sea, is indeed pretty chilled. There are no set pitches, so pick your favourite spot on arrival and claim it as your own. Bring torches and batteries as there’s no electricity on the camping field, but low-key facilities do include showers and toilets as well as washing-up sinks. This is a dog-friendly site, and your canine chums can join long family walks on Loe Bar beach (20 minutes’ drive) or hike segments of the South West Coast Path (15 minutes’ walk). And of course, with Porthleven beach being so close, this is a handy spot for families with kids keen to make sandcastles on the shoreline or splash around in the waves. Pick up supplies for the barbecue from Porthleven village (have a nose around the cute harbour, lined with cafés, while you’re there), or abandon the idea of cooking altogether and head down to a harbourside pub for fresh seafood suppers. And finally, one rule for time back on site: this is a peaceful rural area and no loud music is allowed, so please make sure the amplifier stays at home.

What customers say

This is a clean, spacious, and well-maintained campsite with friendly and helpful hosts, offering beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere. It is conveniently located within a short walking distance of Porthleven village and its amenities. While generally praised for its excellent facilities, some visitors noted occasional issues with shower temperature and the exposed, sloping nature of the site, which can be windy. Fire pits are available to borrow, and the site is dog-friendly. Overall, it's considered great value for money.

Liked Everything you need , showers , toilets ,washing up area ...... I would say a food grade pipe on the drinking water tap would help to high up to fill decent sized water carriers

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Beautiful location, very clean, great onsite facilities and friendly hosts.
Perfect location for a walk into the village where we enjoyed a beach walk, explored the shops, fish and chips on the beach and a sunset. Dog friendly too. Would definitely stay again. It’s so relaxed and peaceful. Find a spot and make it yours. We enjoyed our own area. We had a fire while listening to music and catching up with family.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Great view, really easy and quick to walk into town. Great coffee shop 5 min walk away. Toilets and showers were really good and clean, free hot water for showers and washing up sinks is a real luxury for a campsite! Lovely owner. Such good value for money, couldn’t recommend more! Felt completely safe as a female travelling alone. Seemed great for families.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked The view, the position of the site. Choosing your own pitch. Clean toilets. 5 minutes from Porthleven.

Disliked The showers, very hit and miss with the temperature. You need to test them first to see if they have any hot water. There is a notice that warns you the wind might blow the pilot light out. Some shelves in the showers would be good.
The first night we stayed there was a noisy family who were told to shut up by another camper late at night. I choose the campsite because it said it was a quiet one. It wasn't particularly quiet.
The campsite is on a hill and it is sloped and exposed so you are going to be subject to the weather particularly when it's windy.

Excellent all round, find your own pitch, plenty of room. Great staff.

Local attractions

Surfers, staying at Treza Camping gets you close to Porthleven beach (15 minutes’ walk) with consistent waves and recommended for experts. Novices can catch gentle waves at Poldhu beach (20 minutes’ drive), while Praa Sands (10 minutes) is another popular surfing destination. Non-surfers can take a dip off sandy Loe Bar (20 minutes), with a choice of sea on one side and a freshwater lake on the other. As well as being popular with outdoors fiends, this part of Cornwall packs a cultural punch: departure point for tours to the historic castle and gardens at St Michael’s Mount, pretty seaside Marazion (15 minutes) is also filled with indie art galleries and craft shops, while St Ives (half an hour) on the north coast is home to the famous Tate St Ives gallery. At the western end of the county is Porthcurno (45 minutes), host of musicals and plays at the open-air Minack Theatre (50 minutes). And of course kids get a look in too, with the chance to visit cute rescue seals at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary (20 minutes).
