  • Cornish Caravan and Motorhome Club site with spectacular sea views
  • St Agnes 20 minutes’ walk and Perranporth Beach 15 minutes’ drive
  • Member price shown; non-members select £15/night extra or join for £69
Set at the foot of Cornwall’s landmark St Agnes Beacon, St Agnes Beacon Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite has a magical headland setting with sweeping views over cliffs and the sea towards St Ives. It’s also cleverly arranged across several terraced levels – some gently sloping – so the spacious pitches all share the same spectacular vistas and are partly sheltered by gorse-topped banks. This site is managed by the Caravan and Motorhome Club, and it’s open to non-members as well as members, with discounted rates for members. The price displayed is the member rate; non-members will need to pay the £15/night extra or buy a £69 membership. Membership is worth considering if you’re likely to spend more than four nights at a Club site over the coming year – it brings discounts at more than 140 UK sites, plus other perks including access to tailored caravan/motorhome insurance, discounts on days out and savings on top brands. In common with all Club sites, you can expect well-kept facilities including a laundry room, washing-up sinks and an information centre. There’s a dedicated dog walk on site – and if you’re swerving the cooking, a food truck serving fish and chips turns up on Friday evenings in summer. You can also stroll down to pretty-as-a-picture St Agnes (20 minutes’ walk) to dine on fresh seafood or grab a pizza takeaway.

Local attractions

Get ready for some serious coastal adventures: you’ve seen the views, now hike to them on the South West Coast Path (10 minutes’ walk). Expert surfers can head for the waves at Perranporth (15 minutes’ drive) or Newquay (35 minutes), while Chapel Porth Beach (five minutes’ drive) has scenic hikes leading to hidden caves along its shoreline as well as an abandoned 18th-century smelting works. For a dive into local heritage, take a guided tour of Blue Hills Cornish Tin (15 minutes), the last operational mine in Cornwall, where bespoke tin jewellery is now designed and made. A little further on, you can book outdoor performances at The Minack Theatre, or visit the famed modern-art galleries in St Ives (40 minutes). Treat any youngsters with you to a day on the teacup rides and waterslides at Camel Creek Family Adventure Park (45 minutes), while taking selfies at blowy Land’s End (both an hour), the most westerly point of mainland England, will doubtless appeal to tech-savvy teens.
