  • Family and couples' site within walking distance of Newquay town
  • Owned and run by the same family for over 60 years
  • Pool, fishing ponds, play area, sandpit and shop
Cornwall? Newquay? But of course. Anyone having a hol in Cornwall at any time should pitch up near Newquay at some point: for famed surfing beaches, lively vibe, Newquay Zoo, the Blue Reef Aquarium… and easy access to the rest of the north Cornish coast as well as the beaches down south. And if you're looking for a family base within walking distance of Newquay? Pitch up at popular and friendly Trencreek Holiday Park, owned and run in the quiet village of Trencreek by the same family for over 60 years. This pretty and well-maintained park is a mere mile from Newquay town centre and five minutes' walk away from a regular bus route, passing tennis courts, swimming pools and Newquay Zoo on the way into town. Trencreek is a family and couples-only holiday park, where the family team here make their mission to provide a welcoming vibe and to keep all amenities to spotless standards. Everything's kept secure here: access is by car number plate recognition barriers, so only those booked on site are allowed in. Spend your days lazing by the heated outdoor pool or casting off – for free – in the coarse fishing ponds, or let the kids loose at the play area, sandpit and games room. By night, you could settle down for a barbecue by your pitch: an excellently-stocked shop is on site, a farm shop is within a five- minute drive and a supermarket is a mile away.

What customers say

This is a clean, well-maintained campsite with friendly staff and spacious pitches, located within walking distance of Newquay. Guests praise the heated outdoor pool, good on-site facilities including a cafe and bar, and the peaceful atmosphere. While most find the facilities clean, some note they are dated. Fully-serviced grass pitch

Liked Very clean and tidy. Staff were friendly. Facilities in relatively good condition. The cafe is ace, love those guys.

Disliked Noisy after 2200 every night. This was partly because the pitch was so close to the bar.
Some arcade machines.broken but in the midst of high season this is to be expected.
Pitches very close together, it did feel cramped but that's the modern way ,with costs high and all businesses needing to maximise income, I guess.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Was such a lovely site. Really clean and lovely staff. Cannot recommend it enough and we are already looking at coming back next summer.
Cash is needed but I think it keeps the prices super cheap in the shop and bar. You can pay on card in the cafe which is well worth a visit and again the staff are so lovely.

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch (four person)

Liked Fantastic amenities - pool, amusements, shop, pub, events. Shop and bar so reasonably priced for everything. Takeaway cafe amazing, great selection of ice cream, coffee, homemade pizza and delicious food all day cooked to order. Showers and toilets at pool absolutely immaculate. Pool a great size and has plenty of loungers for families and adults. Nice gardens and surrounding. Felt safe.

Disliked Toilets/shower block clean but could do with a little updating and the washing up area defo needs a little tlc. No fridges/ freezers for communal use (shop you can pay to freeze ice packs). Could do with a really decent play area/park - if there was one we didn’t find it!
We had a non electric pitch and to note the size of the pitch includes your car, our tent was 3.5x4 and we had no room for an awning or outside cooking etc also extremely difficult to put the tent up and pack down with having a car immediately next to the pitch edge (extending poles out etc) and also quite difficult to get car in and out of the plot, especially if the person in front of you has a trailer parked literally on the boundary. Too far to walk into Newquay with small kids. A busy and lively site - some music etc from pitches and lots of kids of course but I’d expect that with the level of amenities and pub so that’s just an observation for future customers.

Liked Friendliness on arrival. Swift check in, really well kept park with spacious pitches. Super clean, large shower and toilet block. Plenty of washing up sinks. Great little cafe on-site.

Disliked Nothing.
Only thing we could fault is that other guests parked on our pitch! That was no fault of the park though.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (six person)

Liked Nothing

Disliked Groundsman was very unpleasant, facilities dated, cash only site which the owners do not reinvest into, we didn't step foot into bar nor bother with the slim offering of entertainment. Location is terrible. I wouldn't return, and don't recommend.

From the manager: Asked you to remove a 50m elec lead that you snook across a road to your pitch from someone else's pitch, very dangerous! Come back 10 mins to find you plugged into another one, totally disregarding what you were told and the guests arriving to that pitch. Looked into the booking, paid for 1 adult/2 children but had 3 adults/ 1 child.

Local attractions

Set off on foot or take the local bus for the mile-long journey into Newquay, one of the most famed spots in all the country for surfing and surf schools as well as the surfing tournaments at Fistral beach. Loads of other Newquay options await if the thought of boards bores you: have a potter around the zoo or aquarium, bask on some of the seven miles of golden sandy beach, or take the Newquay Discovery Trail on a gentle meander through town. The South West Coast Path runs through town too on its 603-mile meander from Minehead to Poole; there's an easy trail of less than a mile to Bedruthan Steps if you want to tackle the path with the kids. Just outside Newquay, Trenance Gardens and Leisure Park is a spectacular spot for a family day out, with Trenance Leisure Park and skate park, a boating lake and pedalo hire, and peaceful times afterwards among the trees, flowers and rose bushes of Trenance Gardens. The park is 10 minutes' walk from Trencreek. For day trips, try Truro (25 minutes' drive), Padstow (30 minutes), the Eden Project (35 minutes) and the National Maritime Museum at Falmouth (50 minutes).
