  • Family and couples' site within walking distance of Newquay town
  • Owned and run by the same family for over 60 years
  • Pool, fishing ponds, play area, sandpit and shop
Cornwall? Newquay? But of course. Anyone having a hol in Cornwall at any time should pitch up near Newquay at some point: for famed surfing beaches, lively vibe, Newquay Zoo, the Blue Reef Aquarium… and easy access to the rest of the north Cornish coast as well as the beaches down south. And if you're looking for a family base within walking distance of Newquay? Pitch up at popular and friendly Trencreek Holiday Park, owned and run in the quiet village of Trencreek by the same family for over 60 years. This pretty and well-maintained park is a mere mile from Newquay town centre and five minutes' walk away from a regular bus route, passing tennis courts, swimming pools and Newquay Zoo on the way into town. Trencreek is a family and couples-only holiday park, where the family team here make their mission to provide a welcoming vibe and to keep all amenities to spotless standards. Everything's kept secure here: access is by car number plate recognition barriers, so only those booked on site are allowed in. Spend your days lazing by the heated outdoor pool or casting off – for free – in the coarse fishing ponds, or let the kids loose at the play area, sandpit and games room. By night, you could settle down for a barbecue by your pitch: an excellently-stocked shop is on site, a farm shop is within a five- minute drive and a supermarket is a mile away.

This is a well-maintained, friendly campsite with spacious pitches, conveniently located for Newquay town and beaches. Facilities are generally clean, though some areas show signs of age. Families appreciate the heated outdoor pool, on-site entertainment, and reasonable bar prices. Some guests noted cash-only policies for on-site facilities and occasional noise issues. Electric grass pitch

Liked Lovely clean site. Had electric hook up which was invaluable!! Didn’t use pool/bar/shop as didn’t need to.

Disliked Not the fault of the site owners at all, but couples arguing and swearing loudly either side of us, even swearing at their children. Kept us awake every night/ early morning. If you read this - shame on you!!!

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (six person)

Liked Location not too far from anything. Great club house with entertainment. Great facilities pool, bar, food, shop, toilets and shower etc. toilets and showers always clean. Not having to wait in long ques like in some sites for toilets or showers. Like the sign posting of where our tents are located and the information pack provides along with the maps. Clean site bins cleaned often.

Disliked Being woken every morning by the birds and quacking ducks (this is a part of nature though). Being located under a tree for a long stay. No where to charge electric tooth brush. My dad struggled sitting on the tools in the club house. They are uncomfy after a period of time. Playing bingo was a challenge being bent over. We loved the decor but due to dads age he struggled without a chair with a back on it.

Fully-serviced grass pitch

Liked The take away was good value for money - good was good. The bar was also good value for money and reasonably priced

Disliked The club was very loud until very late. Other holiday makers were not very considerate to fellow holiday makers when leaving the club, very loud and their language was not appropriate for a holiday camp with children.
The chemical disposal area was also located at the entry to the washing up area which isn’t very hygienic.

Local attractions

Set off on foot or take the local bus for the mile-long journey into Newquay, one of the most famed spots in all the country for surfing and surf schools as well as the surfing tournaments at Fistral beach. Loads of other Newquay options await if the thought of boards bores you: have a potter around the zoo or aquarium, bask on some of the seven miles of golden sandy beach, or take the Newquay Discovery Trail on a gentle meander through town. The South West Coast Path runs through town too on its 603-mile meander from Minehead to Poole; there's an easy trail of less than a mile to Bedruthan Steps if you want to tackle the path with the kids. Just outside Newquay, Trenance Gardens and Leisure Park is a spectacular spot for a family day out, with Trenance Leisure Park and skate park, a boating lake and pedalo hire, and peaceful times afterwards among the trees, flowers and rose bushes of Trenance Gardens. The park is 10 minutes' walk from Trencreek. For day trips, try Truro (25 minutes' drive), Padstow (30 minutes), the Eden Project (35 minutes) and the National Maritime Museum at Falmouth (50 minutes).
