Electric grass pitch (medium)

Liked: Lovely people, Brand new facilities. Very quiet, except for the helicopters, although they finish around 10.30pm. Good base for southern Cornwall exploring!

Disliked: Not quite finished, but will be lovely once they're done. Helicopters, you will see large Helicopters!

Electric grass pitch (medium)

Liked: Friendly welcoming hosts to a small site having new toilet and shower block renovations.

Disliked: Grass pitches could be more level with better defined boundaries and access tracks.

From the manager: Thank you for visiting our site and we can't wait to see you again next year. We will be leveling out the pitches and adding more hard tracks to the site soon.

Local attractions

When you fancy a serious yomp along the dramatic coastline, follow the South West Coast Path (10 minutes’ drive) to Kynance Cove (around three hours’ walk) on the Lizard Peninsula. Shorter hops include a shoreline walk to Porthleven (90 minutes), and strolls around the headland at Poldhu Cove (20 minutes). The kids may well pester you until they get to spend the day at Flambards Theme Park (10 minutes’ drive), with its abundance of thrill rides (see if they’re brave enough to face the Hornet roller coaster). If it’s animals that float the family boat, consider a visit to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary (also 10 minutes) to join sea lion feeding sessions and watch beavers frolic in their watery enclosures. History lovers might care to head for the harbourside National Maritime Museum Cornwall (35 minutes) in Falmouth to tour historic steamboats and let the kids loose on interactive, pirate-themed exhibits. When the weather is warm and you’d prefer to be outdoors, have a wander through the subtropical plantings and water features at dog-friendly Trebah Garden (half an hour).
