Stunning coastal walks

  • Spectacular views over St Mawes and Falmouth bay
  • Five minutes’ drive to beach with: water-sports, kayak hire and more
  • Beautiful scenic woodland walks on our door step
If wind-swept coastal walks with your four-legged friend are your jam, pack your hiking boots (and the lead) and head to Trewen Farm Campsite, a peaceful spot where you can set up on a vast grassy area with spectacular views of the sea. Things feel blissfully remote here, but you’re only half a mile from the nearest village – Budock Water – so when you fancy a pint or you need to stock up on barbecue essentials, you don’t have far to go. For more restaurant options, head to lively Falmouth (10 minutes; or take the bus, which runs a regular service from Budock Water). Woodland trails cross the farm and link to a wider network of walks in the surrounding area, including the South West Coastal Path, which takes you past rugged cliffs and dramatic seascapes to lookouts like Stack Point (50 minutes on foot) and beaches like Swanpool (one hour on foot), a stretch of sand and shingle with kayak and paddleboard hire, plus a miniature golf course. There are also trails in Carwinion Woods (10 minutes), which is a riot of colourful wildflowers in the spring, and a circular walk along the shores of Argal Reservoir (15 minutes), where you might indulge in a spot of birdwatching or fishing (be sure to get a permit for this). If this is all too tame for you, get your adrenaline going at Via Ferrata Cornwall (15 minutes), with multiple routes up granite cliffs.

What customers say

This campsite offers spectacular, peaceful views of Falmouth Bay with plenty of space. Facilities are described as basic but generally clean and functional, though some visitors noted issues with cold or inconsistent shower temperatures, and a lack of amenities like soap. The location is praised for its proximity to Falmouth and local walks, with friendly staff contributing to a relaxed atmosphere. Despite some minor drawbacks regarding facilities, many guests found it excellent value and would return.

Electric grass and earth pitch

Liked Great View
Easy to book in on an app
The field was in good shape

Disliked Very basic 70s style shower and toilets one sink for the men and one for the ladies which is just not good enough particularly for the ladies who need a little time with a mirror.
The shower was barely warm enough just higher than body temperature
Hot water for the dishes was a kettle which is a great idea if you are paying an appropriate pitch price.

Non-electric grass and earth pitch

Liked Lovely quiet site with beautiful views. Loos / showers clean and simple with dish washing area. It even has a fridge freezer you can use and kettles to heat your water or have a cheeky quick cup of tea.
There is an electric socket you can use so even a teenager is happy here! But it is basically a field with a loo plus the above.

Disliked Cars driving 100 meters just to go to the loo rather than walking.

Liked First time we have stayed in a remotely managed camp site. Much of the camp field was dry and flat and the facilities were clean and much as expected for a short low cost stay.

Non-electric grass and earth pitch

Liked Brilliant views and space. Friendly people. The location is just outside town but manages to feel rural. The local pub is a short walk away and great. Facilities were clean and not too busy.

Disliked Some of the pitches were on a slope but that's what the local landscape is.

Local attractions

The National Maritime Museum Cornwall, overlooking the harbour in Falmouth, displays among other things a collection of small boats from all around the world – from dinghies and lifeboats, to outrigger canoes. Medieval jousts take place throughout the summer at Pendennis Castle, built by Henry VIII on a rocky headland. Green-fingered visitors make a beeline for splendid green hubs such as Trebah Garden and National Trust Glendurgan Garden (both 10 minutes’ drive). The latter spreads across three valleys and has a cherry laurel maze planted almost two centuries ago (1833). Trebah is renowned for its collections of rhododendrons and camellias. Thrill rides at Flambards Theme Park (25 minutes) include the vertiginous Skyraker drop tower, but there are also gentler, more child-friendly attractions, such as a traditional carousel and a miniature western mine train, plus indoor themed areas like the Victorian Village.
