What customers say

This campsite offers beautiful lakeside views and a quiet, peaceful atmosphere, ideal for water sports and outdoor activities. Pitches are generally spacious, and facilities, particularly toilets and showers, are frequently noted as clean, though some visitors describe them as basic or dated. The on-site cafe receives positive mentions. Some guests experienced issues with site maintenance and a lack of on-site staff. Accessibility for disabled visitors and motorhomes was also a concern for a few.

Electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked Free electric ( although not needed for us)
Pleasant walks around the lakes
Dog friendly

Disliked General feeling of neglect. Brambles growing over the black water drainage point ( probably because it’s hidden with no signs) grass not cut.
Toilets & shower blocks, although very clean, were worse than the school ones I had in the 60s
At £25 quite expensive given the basic facilities and distance from anywhere other than the lakes.
Final point, the code on the shower blocks needs changing more often as it seems most visitors to the car park had the code including many of the park run runners on the Saturday
Ladies shower block lock so stiff my wife couldn’t use it.

Electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked Quiet. Gorgeous location. Convenient for lake and parkrun. Lovely walks all around.

Disliked We didn't get an email giving us our pitch number or code to showers. We had to ask another camper.

Electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked Quiet and peaceful

Disliked To be honest not really suitable for motorhomes difficult drive from about three miles away access into the site is quite bad up a very steep entrance so if you need to manoeuvre around it's not easy

Electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked Location Nice, with walk around the lake.
Went Sailing from site, good for water sports.
Small site good for free range children.
Good Cafe and playground on site.

Disliked Whilst clean enough, toilet/showers pretty rudimentary.
Minimal arrival information, effectively unstaffed out of hours.
Looking a bit careworn, glad we didn’t book a hard standing pitch.
Wasps!

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked We stayed when it was very quiet. Liked the closeness to all facilities. Cafe was excellent. Showers etc very clean. We had a level pitch with a view of the lake which had some good bird watching and huge fish.
The staff we met were very kind and friendly

Disliked Nothing really. Maybe be nicer to have some privacy in the shower areas. They are like school ones. Undress in communal area before using showers.

Local attractions

Attractive Bude (20 minutes' drive) has lots to see, and is surrounded by old villages such as Poughill (15 minutes) and Kilkhampton (10 minutes). Take a dip in the scenic Bude Sea Swimming Pool (20 minutes) or perhaps try out a surfing lesson on Summerleaze Beach (20 minutes). North of this area is the Hartland peninsula, home to the precariously perched, car-free cobbled streets of Clovelly (half an hour). To the south, a tour of Tintagel Castle (50 minutes), followed by a visit to the pretty fishing village of Boscastle (40 minutes) and The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic, is a top option for a day out. Or make the short trip inland to Launceston (40 minutes) for a journey on the steam railway. Keen to see some more scenic Cornwall beaches while taking your holiday? You may want to head south towards Crackington Haven (half an hour) or tick off closer spots like Sandymouth Bay Beach (15 minutes) and Welcombe Mouth Beach (25 minutes).
