Non-electric grass tent or campervan pitch (no pets)

Liked The pitch location and site layout were good. Plenty of opportunity for privacy with little nooks of grass here and there to pitch on. Good clean toilet and shower facilities cleaned every morning. Playground and indoor barn area for children to play in.
Really nice campsite.
Really good location for access to Torquay and Eden Project. Maybe not if you wanted to see some of the more southern areas of Cornwall but I was really happy with the location.
Pitches were pretty level and staff were friendly.

Disliked Lack of staff presence is the only issue but ended up making quite a big impact. Reception only really manned for an hour at either end of the day and then campers are left to their own devices. This wouldn't usually bother me but the lack of staff meant that a single large group was able to ruin the entire experience. I can't remember whether the site says it's quiet from a certain time (although I wouldn't have booked it if it wasn't) but if it is, then it is not enforced at all.
The adults were playing loud music until around 10:30pm no staff presence on site.
They had around 5/6 kids with them. The children were in the play barn until after 10 at night shouting, swearing, throwing and breaking stuff. Jumping on the picnic table and admittedly generally being kids, I accept everyone wants to relax but the adults had no idea what their children were up to. As a parent with a 4yo this was a problem. I wasn't familiar with the site but it turns out that although I was camped quite a way from their tents, I was pretty much at the side of the barn. After a 6h drive to Cornwall this was not what I needed.
Same kids washing their bikes two days on the trot in the pot wash leaving it all a mess. They used the provided washing up liquid and left it all over the wooden decking making it slippery. They took the toilet roll to dry their bikes.
The pot wash is also at the entrance to the only toilet block which was blocked by the kids and bikes with water and soap everywhere.
Although there is a playground and the indoor barn, with the rest in mind, I'm not sure I would say the site is family friendly for camping with young children.
If the large group hadn't been there then 100% I would stay here again. The rest was fine but I think the likelihood of another large group ruining it would be high as there is still no-one there to stop them.
Worth noting that for me there was almost no phone signal (Giffgaff). Not a huge issue other than planning the following days stuff and getting e-tickets together etc.

Non-electric grass tent or campervan pitch (no pets)

Liked A beautiful and peaceful spot, I loved the privacy the pitches have and the free roaming animals. Great views of the stars when it’s a clear night. The farm’s own minty lamb burgers are so good on the bbq too! I bought another batch to take home with me! Solar powered showers worked great and there’s plenty of hot water. Will definitely be returning.

Non-electric grass tent or campervan pitch (no pets)

Liked This is a fantastic site. On arrival everything is clearly signposted, easy to find a pitch, so many choices. The ground was level and no bent tent pegs 😁. The washrooms were immaculate. The site has a great vibe, lots of wildlife as well as chickens, ducks and turkey's wandering around. Location wise, this site is perfect for runners, hikers and cyclists as you're straight out on to quiet lanes and Bodmin moor.

Heading West on the A30 out of Launceston take the first right signposted to St Breward (several miles after Jamaica Inn). This takes you across a cattle grid onto the open moor. Follow this road without turning off (ignoring all turnings for either Blisland or St Breward) for approximately 3 miles and the South Penquite entrance land will come up on your right.

Local attractions

Have a pint or a fizzy drink where smugglers once rose a toast to their pursuits; Cornwall’s famed Jamaica Inn (15 minutes’ drive) is within striking distance of South Penquite Farm. That’s just one of the popular things to do around Bodmin Moor: others include fly fishing and moor walks at Colliford Lake (20 minutes), hiking in the Golitha Falls National Nature Reserve (25 minutes) or alpaca trekking (20 minutes). Of course, the Cornwall coast has a fierce reputation too. Squeeze through the Squeezy Belly Alley in Port Isaac (half an hour) and board a boat tour to spy on seals, dolphins and Tintagel Castle. If you’d like to see it up close instead, the clifftop castle of Tintagel Castle (35 minutes) really isn’t that far off. Merlin’s cave at Tintagel will introduce you to the idea of magic, but there’s more of that at The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic in Boscastle (half an hour). Just save some time for the surf, as Polzeath beach (40 minutes) is one of Cornwall’s most popular surfing beaches.
