Appreciate a few creature comforts on your camping holiday? That’s certainly what you can expect at Grange Beck Farm Glamping, a small site surrounded by greenery less than a mile from Kildwick village, in North Yorkshire. Here, accommodation comes in luxuriously kitted-out pods, each with its own smart, modern ensuite with shower (and complimentary toiletries), a TV in the living space and all the basics in the kitchen corner to rustle up simple meals. Sleeping arrangements are best suited to a maximum of three adults or two adults with two small children, with one comfy double bed and a sofa bed where all bedding and towels are provided. Moving outside, the pods have views across to the hills of the Yorkshire Dales National Park from their private decking. Barbecues are supplied so you can enjoy a good grill-up. Wood for the fire is available upon request, so all you need to think about is picking up your provisions in Skipton (15 minutes’ drive). Walkers can stride along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal (15 minutes), or strike out across the dramatic moors and valleys of the national park (20 minutes). Alternatively, you can simply take a stroll down to the local pub in Kildwick (20 minutes’ walk) for a couple of pints of local beer and family favourites like scampi or burgers with chips.

Hedgehog camping pod

Liked Glamping pods were lovely, really clean, well equipped and just a gorgeous getaway.
Walking down the farm track to the canal, walking over the swing bridge and along the towpath to the Canalside Cafe for our breakfast!
Using the pod as a base from which to explore the Dales!

Disliked We could hear the road noise but it didn't distract us, was just a surprise and a reminder we weren't so far from civilisation.

Badger camping pod

Liked Great view and well kitted out. Only addition I would have appreciated was a fan as we stayed in some of the hottest weather and the pods are very cosy, which will be great in colder weather.

A hike on Ilkley Moor (20 minutes’ drive) might take you past the Twelve Apostles Stone Circle, which is believed to date back to the Bronze Age, or to the distinctive rock formation known as Cow and Calf (you might have to use some imagination to see these animals in the rocks). Climb to the top for spectacular views of the moors and the town of Ilkley. You don’t have to be a train enthusiast to take a vintage ride on the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway (20 minutes) – though if you are, you might be keen to take part in one of their ‘drive the diesel locomotive’ sessions. Other experiences include afternoon teas and murder mystery dinners. Built in the 12th century, Bolton Abbey (20 minutes) was a victim of Henry VIII’s dissolution of the monasteries, and today it sits in ruins on the banks of the River Wharfe. Cross the river via the 62 Stepping Stones, keeping your eyes peeled for buzzards flying overhead and resident otters.
