  • Family and dog-friendly site in an orchard next to the A46
  • A 10-minute drive from Stratford-upon-Avon and 35 mins from Birmingham
  • Convenient location next to the A46
Have a sweet stay at Green Gates Caravan Park, a family-friendly site 10 minutes’ drive from the Warwickshire town of Stratford-upon-Avon (a place with plenty of choice for filling holiday days, including visits to a whole host of Shakespeare-related spots). In a fledgling orchard a 10-minute stroll from the quiet village of Snitterfield, the site is well set up for relaxing rural escapes. It’s also well placed for urban adventures though, as Birmingham city centre is a mere 35 minutes away by car. To further boost your countryside sojourn, the Green Gates team recommend a stroll of about 400 metres along the lane to a farm shop selling artisan food from several producers (the sort of thing that'd be ideal for a picnic or barbie back at base, one might suggest). The shop also has a café and deli, as well as a family play area and animals to see. Amenities include a modern bathroom block, added in 2022, housing several toilets and showers. Please note that Green Gates Caravan Park is next to the A46, so expect some noise from passing traffic during your stay.

What customers say

This well-maintained, secure site offers spacious, level pitches, many with water and electric hook-ups, set within an orchard. Facilities are generally praised for cleanliness, though some found them small or dated. Easy access to Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick is a key benefit, though road noise from the nearby A46 is frequently noted as a downside, particularly for lighter sleepers. Friendly, helpful owners are consistently highlighted.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Small site, easily accessible from main A46. Very quiet, although there was some background traffic noise. Great location for visiting both Stratford and Warwick. We boarded the P&R bus in Stratford town centre at 4pm and by 4.25 we were back at the site. Facilities spotless and modern

Disliked Limited toilet/ shower facilities. Only one toilet and two showers per sex. Depending on your size and mobility, you might find them a tight squeeze. A second block with one additional toilet and shower didn't seem to be open during our stay

Liked The site was secure. The facilities were good. Lots of spaces between pitches. The site owners were very helpful. The site had a lovely, relaxed feel about it. No huge list of rules & regulations. Nice pub within walking distance & easy/cheap to Uber into Stratford-Upon-Avon. I thought that the road noise next to the site would bother me and yes, you can hear the traffic but I soon tuned out of it so it wasn't a problem at all.

From the manager: Dear Karis, thank you for taking the time to leave a review and we are pleased that you found the site to be lovely and peaceful. We do however, have 5 showers and 3 toilets so not sure why you only thought we had one of each? Maybe you will visit us again with this clarification. KR. Mark

Liked Everything here is fabulous. The pitches are so big, long, nicely spaced out and the most level I’ve experienced. Toilet and shower facilities were spotlessly clean and the hosts lovely, hospitable and friendly

Disliked Nothing

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Good sized pitches with water and electric
Reasonably priced

Disliked Road noise
Van speeding up and down the road through the centre of all the pitches
The last pitch was right next to a doggy daycare business with a lot of dogs barking
Misleading info re the village pub and farm shop
Other people’s dogs running loose and messing on the grass
Strange atmosphere and several pitches seemed to have permanent residents
We left 3 days early and went elsewhere

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Very spacious site which was once an orchard. Pitches are quite big, ours was quite sloping to the front so had to use our high ramps, all pitches are separated by rows of little apple trees, which was nice.
At the top end of the site, near to some workshops, there is a kissing gate which cuts off the corner and brings you out at the junction of Kings Lane & Ingon Lane. If you turn right onto Ingon Lane you can get the bus into Stratford u Avon then also get a connecting bus into Warwick-both good days out!
Turn left at the junction is a short walk into Snitterfield, here there’s a small shop and the Snitterfield Arms pub which was very nice. Snitterfield also has a new Sports Bar, bear right at the junction near to the pub! This was lovely, loads of outdoor seating and very competitive prices-worth a visit!!

Disliked We thought the facilities were in need of attention. There is a unit at the top (near kissing gate) which is supposed to have a code to get in, but this was broken. The shower was quite grubby and discoloured. The lower parts of the wooden frame were rotten, which had been painted over. Definitely in need of some remedial work. To acces this unit you had to climb 3 quite steep and uneven wooden steps-not good for those with mobility issues.
The second block at the other end of the site wasn’t much better, again quite steep steps to access. Male & female units but these were very cramped and again not in great condition.
Also there was road going through the centre of the site towards the workshop at the end. During the day and sometimes early mornings there would be vans, trucks etc up and down and not at the usual 5 mph you’d expect on a site. Not conducive to peace & quiet

Local attractions

The site is well placed for historical urban adventures. As well as handy proximity to Stratford-upon-Avon, the site’s just 10 minutes’ drive from Warwick, where sauntering around gardens, expanding knowledge in museums, and – at Warwick Castle – exploring haunted dungeons and watching jousts are just a handful of the things to do. Take a more stately wander through history at Charlecote Park, Kenilworth Castle, Ragley Hall, Coughton Court, Packwood House and Upton House, all within 25 minutes of base, or stick to towns with a past – it’s 15 minutes to Leamington Spa and its museums, art gallery, formal gardens and Royal Pump Rooms. Not that interested in all things old? Stick to fresh air pursuits instead: it’s a 15-minute walk (about one mile) to Arden Lakes, where carp, bream, perch and roach can be fished, and there are three golf courses within five minutes’ drive. Outdoorsy types can make tracks to the Cotswolds (about 20 minutes away) or opt for a visit to Kingsbury Water Park (35 minutes) for fishing, boating, birdwatching, biking and walking all in one spot. Those who can’t turn their backs on that big city life should turn tyres towards Birmingham, 35 minutes away. The sprawling city has lots to entertain the whole family, from top-class shopping to self-guided tours at Cadbury World (yes, that Cadbury).
