What customers say

This tranquil, off-grid site offers a peaceful woodland escape with ample space and the freedom to choose your pitch. Ideal for nature lovers, cyclists, and walkers, it provides direct access to trails. Facilities are basic, including water and waste disposal. Friendly and helpful wardens are frequently mentioned. Some guests noted occasional noise from other campers or cyclists, and a lack of on-site toilets.

Non-electric hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked The site wasn’t too busy, lots of space and lovely and quiet. Great base for heading out walking and cycling and not too long a walk to the park centre or to the pub. Our second stay here so we knew what to expect

Non-electric hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked Perfect wild camping in the heart of a beautiful wooded area.

Disliked It’s not a dislike because we’d go anyway and understand it’s wild camping for a reason but a toilet block would be greatly welcomed!

Local attractions

Once you’ve ridden around all the area’s excellent mountain biking trails several times, keep the adrenaline pumping while suspended high above the forest canopy at Go Ape Cannock (five minutes’ drive), an activity centre with almost 1,500 metres of tree-to-tree crossings. Less energetic dawdles in the area include dog-walking and orienteering trails. Other gentle ways to while away a day include wanders by the water at Fairoak Pools (five minutes) or fly fishing on the banks of Blithfield Reservoir (15 minutes). Amateur historians could amble around Castle Ring, an Iron Age site (15 minutes), while shoppers might prefer to dip in and out of the boutiques of Rugeley market town (10 minutes). If stately homes appeal, navigate your way to the National Trust’s Shugborough Estate (15 minutes), a huge Georgian building with a walled garden. Into flexing your creativity? Check out Ingestre Hall, a Grade II-listed 17th-century Jacobean mansion and the UK’s only dedicated Residential Arts Centre (20 minutes).
