  • Sizeable pitches on a Shropshire farm with Ceiriog Valley views
  • Direct access to the Offa’s Dyke Path; 25 mins' drive to Llangollen
  • Honesty shop on site; pubs and shops 10 minutes’ drive
Long-distance walkers, listen up. Offa’s Dyke Farm Campsite is right off (yes, you guessed it) Offa’s Dyke Path on the border of England and Wales. You can head straight from the trail onto the camping field for an overnight stop, or use the site (only a 10-minute drive from the A5) as your base for exploring the area. The family-friendly, four-acre grass site is on a working farm overlooking Ceiriog Valley and Chirk Castle. Children have an enclosed field to run around in safely, and there are toys and games to occupy them while adults kick back and relax. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, and you'll be able to come face to face with farm animals too, as sheep and cows are in all the surrounding fields and chickens roam around too. There's something of a wild-camping vibe here – simple facilities include a compost toilet and a hot shower so you can freshen up and relax after a long day’s walk. A few extras are available, including firepits to hire and fresh produce sold straight from the farm. There's also an honesty shop based in their cattle trailer. The nearest shop to stock up on essentials is in Chirk (10 minutes’ drive) and there are numerous welcoming pubs within a 10-minute drive offering good local food and ale.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Showers are excellent, no push button and perfect temperature. Owner was incredibly kind and very friendly. Lots of last minute needed things for sale in little shop which is open all day! We were worried about the compost toilet but it was the exact same as a normal one and didn’t smell as owner kept the area exceptionally clean!

Disliked: Wouldn’t recommend for self travelling. We found the night a little scary as there was no one around however if you are in a group it wouldn’t be an issue!!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Fantastic views in a super peaceful campsite. Really peaceful camping like wild camping but with the basics thrown in. There is a lovely little honesty shop, hot showers and clean compost loos. Lots of toys for you ger kids as well. The campsite feels blissfully remote but is really close to Chirk and there is loads to see and do.

Liked: View was beautiful, facilities were clean and as described.

Disliked: Tricky to find, Sat Nav drops you off a mile or so before you arrive. A few signs would be helpful.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: We liked this small family run campsite, good location to explore the area, suitable for families with children, plenty of place to play, almost like a wild camping, but with eco toilets and shower with hot water. There are two toilets and two showers, which is enough for this small campsite.

Liked: Amazing views and real sense of peace. Honesty shop was a nice touch

Disliked: Poor directions for walkers, just a pin dropped in a field with no directions for how to get there. Had to walk around whole site to find entrance. Beware!
