What customers say

This campsite is highly praised for its fantastic, tranquil location amidst beautiful scenery, offering a peaceful escape. Visitors highlight the exceptionally clean and well-maintained facilities, including spacious wet rooms with excellent hot showers. The friendly and helpful owners are frequently mentioned. Ample space between pitches and a focus on nature, including limited phone signal, are popular features. Some minor points were raised regarding chemical waste disposal and ground conditions after rain, which the management is addressing.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked I booked the site last minute to try and break up the drive ahead of me the next day but wish I could have stayed longer!
Runnis meadow is in a beautiful peaceful spot, facilities are spotless. The owner was lovely and let me know about the local wildlife and dog walks.
There are plenty of kids play things to borrow on site which was lovely to see.

Disliked Phone signal on some networks isn't great on site so save anything you need onto your phone before going. But it was actually a nice break!

Electric grass pitch

Liked We really enjoyed our stay at the Runnis Meadow, actually it's the best campsite we have ever been to! Thank you so much for maintaining it so nicely, everywhere!

ps. Thanks again for lending us the connector to our extension socket, and sorry that I didn't get time to tell you that I left it next to the fridge as there's no signals on site and later it slipped my mind...

Electric grass pitch

Liked I like the site because it is so peaceful, quiet and clean. No light hazard so the sky is crystally clear. If you like an internet free holiday break, it is the best destination.

Local attractions

The remains of an Iron Age fort are not the only draw at Roundton Hill National Nature Reserve (15 minutes’ drive). This Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) is also a haven for bats (who roost in disused lead mines), lizards and butterflies, plus birds such as yellowhammers and woodpeckers. Had enough of grilling your own meals? A thriving dining scene awaits in Ludlow (40 minutes). For a small market town, Ludlow has a surprising amount of award-winning restaurants, plus traditional pubs and deli shops selling local specialities. If you visit in September, you might also catch the food festival, which takes place inside the medieval castle. In addition to its castle and cathedral, Shrewsbury (40 minutes) is known for the Quarry, a garden stretching along the River Severn. There is plenty to do here besides admiring colourful flower beds and relaxing on the lawn: National Cycle Route 81 skirts the water, you can hire canoes, or let the kids tire themselves out at the Quarry Splash Park.
