What customers say

This adult-only site receives exceptional praise for its immaculate, modern, and well-maintained facilities, particularly the shower and toilet block, often described as hotel-standard. Reviewers highlight the peace and quiet, beautiful lakeside views, generous pitches, and excellent dog walking opportunities, including a secure dog field. The fishing is also a significant draw. Minor points mentioned include limited Wi-Fi signal at pitches and the distance to shops, though the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many planning return visits.

Fully-serviced grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked The site is wonderfully quiet — exactly what we like about it. The bathroom facilities are exceptional: spotless, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed with plenty of hooks to hang your gear. The shower caddy is a really nice touch. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, which makes the stay even better. There’s also a small onsite shop with essentials, perfect for those “just in case” moments.

Disliked Not a criticism of the site at all — the 4G signal is quite poor, so streaming can be very slow or sometimes not possible. It might be worth offering WiFi on site, as it would make the stay even better.

Liked Site was lovely, as were the bathrooms.
My husband enjoyed the fishing.
Unfortunately, had to cut our stay short thanks to Storm Amy which threatened to wreck our dining tent/awning and other kit.

Disliked Nothing to dislike really. Wi-Fi could be better.

Local attractions

The UK’s smallest county might be tiny in stature but it certainly packs a sightseeing punch. The local town of Stamford (15 minutes' drive) is known for its handsome Georgian architecture, while pretty Oakham (also 15 minutes) has a Norman castle as well as loads of stylish shops if you’re looking to offload some cash. If it’s picnic weather, journey to Melton Mowbray (25 minutes) to pick up a couple of the local pork pies to eat on your travels. For active adventures, Rutland Water hosts an inflatable assault course at Aqua Park Rutland (15 minutes), dinghy sailing at Rutland Sailing Club and waterside golf at a nine-hole course (both 20 minutes). Trout fishing and birdwatching for teals, herons and rare ospreys are also possible around the reservoir’s shoreline. Have a wander up to the Iron Age fort at Burrough Hill (half an hour) for far-reaching views across Rutland, and in summer, take a guided tour of ornate Burghley House (20 minutes), an impressive Tudor-era mansion with Capability Brown-designed gardens.
