  • Simple stays on a family-friendly site in the countryside
  • Within walking distance of a boating lake, the river Trent and pubs
  • Easy access to walking paths; barbecues are permitted on site
Simple stays within easy reach of peaceful strolls are the speciality at Camping Nottinghamshire. The Nottinghamshire countryside has won over many hearts over the decades – just take a look at those fens, lakes, Wolds and market towns, and it’ll be clear why. Among all of this splendidness is this dog-friendly site, set in a peaceful area and excellently spacious. All you need are your legs to stroll around the local woods, a good appetite for all those local pubs and perhaps a barbecue if you’re keen to take on the role of chef for the trip. There’s plenty around the local area to keep guests occupied (and wide-eyed). Within walking distance is a 100-acre boating lake, fisheries and an alpaca farm. If a long stroll around the river Trent sounds like a pretty splendid day out to you, the riverside path is only 35 minutes’ walk away too. A 200-year-old country village pub might also be on the menu; it’s 20 minutes’ drive away. Another pub is within 40 minutes’ walk of Camping Nottinghamshire. If you already appointed a group chef, there are restaurants five minutes’ drive away in Collingham.

Local attractions

If you’re a big hiker, and you very well might be if you’re staying at Camping Lincolnshire, Hill Holt Wood (15 minutes’ drive) has 34 acres of woodland for you to get acquainted with. Perhaps you want wildlife watching opportunities mixed in with your strolls too - RSPB Langford Lowfields (10 minutes), a restored quarry, has a huge reed bed and creatures like cuckoos, warblers, sand martins and hobbies. In the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB (55 minutes), there’s lots more in the way of hikes. The low hills have woodland trails and paths leading between gorgeous market towns; you’re sure to find a few tasty snacks passing through. The same can be said of Newark-on-Trent (20 minutes), a town with a gorgeous marketplace and lots of independent shops and cafés. The ruined Newark Castle is a staple piece in the town, along with its regular antiques fairs. Lincoln (20 minutes) is lovely too, of course, and it has a big number of historic sites, including the printed books library of Lincoln Cathedral and the Magna Carta and Victorian prison in Lincoln Castle.

Liked Nothing!

Disliked Booked for one night, got there and called the number as asked to do but sounded like a child answered the phone and no answer after that, I was sat out side for an hour waiting to try and get into the campsite before I gave up and found another place to go. They took my money but I still haven't got a refund after 3 weeks!. I would definitely not recommend this site to stay, there is a reason why it's cheap and I've learnt my lesson from this experience.
I got a text message from a different number I was given later that night apologising for the inconvenience and saying they would refund me but after 3 weeks later I still haven't had anything back from them. Feels like a bit of a scam to me so please beware of this site, the name is different to advertised on pitch up and I couldn't find them on Google maps, very hard to find them if you haven't been there before.
I would give 0 stars if that was an option.
