Captain Bluebells Farm

General

  • Adults-only site on a Victorian farm, 25 minutes' drive from Skegness
  • Coastal walks, beaches, Lincolnshire Wolds within 15 minutes' drive
  • Alpacas and llamas on site, plus small farm shop with local produce

In a choice between coastal wanders or explores through gorgeous greenery, which wins?

At Captain Bluebell’s Farm, an adults-only site in the grounds of a Victorian farm less than a minute’s drive from the Lincolnshire village of Anderby, you can always opt for both. This is where countryside and coast meet, five minutes from the seaside walks and sandy beaches of Anderby Creek and 10 from the edge of the stunning Lincolnshire Wolds for easy bike rides and strolls.

If you feel like sticking closer to home base, that’s hardly a chore: anyone who still wants to stretch their legs can wander around the peaceful site's eight acres of farmland before heading over to meet the friendly residents – sheep, chickens, goats and the slightly more exotic llamas and alpacas.

Feel free to bring your canine chum with you for those meanders along the coast and through the Wolds, then let them drag you to the on-site dog walk area and field where you can give them a chance to run free off lead. If you fancy running free for a bit, the owners have made sure there's plenty of space for roams around the grounds too.

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, head to the farm shop for camping supplies and local produce, or take a jaunt back into Anderby or the nearby Huttoft for pub food and a few bevvies.

Absolutely fantastic quite peaceful site perfect for relaxing and chilling out. Lovely big pitches , hard standing or grass. Sanitation stations all around the site , toilets water stations , grey water disposal point. Nothing to much trouble for the owners , animals on site chickens, goats , alpacas. Fresh eggs , etc site kept immaculate toilets , showers not in use but always prestine. Nice touches soap, hand wash sanitiser for guests to use. Great indian and Chinese takaways delivered to site . Can recommend the Indian . John a absolute top bloke who would go the extra mile for those on site. Anderby Creek lovely , 3 miles from site but nice walk through the village. Would recommend this to anyone who wants to relax and unwind. So so peaceful and quite. Will definitely be back next year. Regards Andy & Babs

So much to like! The friendliness and helpfulness of Jon, the cleanliness of the site - the attention to detail on social distancing and more. Having the animals on site is a bonus for anyone who loves animals! Help is always there when needed; even for small problems. Pitches are flat and well maintained and the one way system for walks is clear for all to see. The toilet and shower block is immaculately clean and left open for a good air-through in these times of Covid. Use of biodegradable chemicals is understandable and no big deal; Jon has it for sale if you haven't got any. If you have mobility issues, a car is a must to be able to get around - there are many sandy beaches nearby, with mainly free car parking. The nearest is Anderby Creek, which is wonderful! An added bonus is that the site is very dog friendly - our old staffy thoroughly enjoyed himself running in the dog walking fields :-) Thankyou, Jon, for working so hard to make sure that visitors have a great holiday!

Local attractions

Start off your hols with some leisurely wanders into Anderby and Huttoft villages, both within 15 minutes’ walk. Stroll to the first for On Your Marques, full to overflowing with vintage model cars, motor racing memorabilia and a 45-metre Scalextric track to test your mettle on, then ramble to Huttoft for the Radcliffe Donkey Sanctuary.

For seaside days, head to the resorts at Skegness, Ingoldmells, Chapel St Leonards, Sutton on Sea, Trusthorpe and Mabelthorpe, all within 25 minutes' drive. Skeggy has a seal sanctuary and open-air museum for those who like quieter days, and Ingoldmells is home to a huge market open seven days a week.

Once you’ve got your thrills at the raceway, chase some more at Fantasy Island theme park in Ingoldmells where you can get your adrenaline pumping on rides and coasters. Otherwise, take a more sedate approach with a trip on the Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway, a turn around the gorge Gunby Hall and Gardens or an evening trip to the fab Kinema in the Woods for film watching among spectacular décor.
