To the seaside… and an enviable Ingoldmells location within easy walking distance of the beach, the fab Fantasy Island theme park and all manner of shops, pubs, amusements and fish and chip shops. Family-friendly The Chase Caravan Park is in the Anchor Lane area of this Lincolnshire seaside village, with plenty of space to relax around the landscaped grounds (or in the smart static caravans, all of which have a lounge, TV and large kitchen area). Much attention has been lavished on the facilities at this park: it’s home to a large family-friendly bar and restaurant that’s got an extensive menu and an indoor soft play area where kids can let off some steam whatever the weather. Major sporting events are shown on the big TVs, and there’s often live entertainment too. The south-facing outside deck’s the place to be on fine days; handily, it overlooks the playground so parents can keep an eye on their offspring from afar. Other handy facilities on site include a food shop and a state-of-the-art launderette. And it’s also useful to note that there’s a bus stop just outside the entrance for those who’d like to roam around Lincolnshire without needing to take the car out.

Ingoldmells may be a small place but it’s home to a couple of record breakers: it has the biggest outdoor market in Europe (open seven days a week, with an indoor version for rainy days) and the continent’s longest looping rollercoaster in the form of The Millennium, over at Fantasy Island theme park. Stomach turning at the very thought? Get back to nature instead with outings to see the seabirds at Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve (20 minutes’ drive) or the seals at Donna Nook Nature Reserve (45 minutes). Hardy’s Animal Farm (10 minutes’ walk) is a good call if you’d like to coo over cuddly animals, or you could head into the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (20 minutes’ drive) to see what you can spot in the wild. If it’s all about the seaside for you, turn instead to days out comparing the sandy offerings of Skegness (10 minutes), Chapel St Leonards (10 minutes) and Mablethorpe (25 minutes). Among them you should find plenty of traditional amusements, golf courses and beach areas for everyone from paddling kids to solitude-seekers.
