Electric grass touring pitch (members only)

Liked Nice quiet 5 vehicle site. The toilet and shower block were immaculate and the pitches were definitely on the large size. 3 grassed and 2 hardstanding options available. Someone had complained on a previous review that the close vicinity to the railroad crossing was an issue but after the first few trains passing we forget it was there. Went for a weeks fishing and it was great.

Disliked Nothing to dislike...well run little campsite.

Liked Butterswood Fishing Lake and Campsite is an absolute hidden gem. The setting is incredibly peaceful and tranquil — perfect for anyone looking to relax and unwind in nature. The lakes are well-stocked, and the fishing is enjoyable whether you’re experienced or just fishing for fun.

Facilities are excellent, with clean and tidy toilets that are clearly well looked after. Everything on-site is designed to make your stay easy and stress-free. The whole place has a calm, welcoming feel, and it’s clear the owners take great pride in maintaining the grounds.

If you’re after a quiet retreat with great fishing ,spacious pitches and welcoming hosts . Butterswood is the place to be !!

Electric grass touring pitch (members only)

Liked Steve and Joanne are a lovely couple, with their family working along side them, all very helpful. Really good site with 5 ponds (3 fishable) and great wooded area. My husband fished every day and said it was excellent.
There is a toilet block and shower.

Disliked The only thing that I could say we disliked was the railway crossing (which is close by) some vehicles went over a bit fast and it bumped. Any mention of the trains and the road nearby are very soon not noticed.

Local attractions

If you can tear yourselves away from the on-site lakes, there's more interest nearby for fishing folk in the form of the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre (20 minutes' drive), telling the story of the town's maritime heyday and offering tours of the Ross Tiger trawler. You can also get to Grimsby on the train, which means you can then sample a couple of craft brews at Docks Beers. Further down the coast, Cleethorpes (20 minutes) is the place for some seaside time, whether you go for a stroll on the sand, a feast of fish and chips or some activity at the boating lake and various watersports providers. Looking west instead, you can cross the Humber Bridge for a day in Hull (half an hour), perhaps wandering through the old town, seeing the fish at The Deep aquarium or stepping back to the past at the Streetlife Museum. Keeping it rural, there are lots of trails, plus golf and a Go Ape course, at Normanby Hall (35 minutes) – you can also visit the Georgian hall, the walled garden and the excellent Rural Life Museum.
