Lovely peaceful, back to basics, site. Great communication from owner
Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch
Liked Exactly what I was looking for. A place to be “be”.
Lovely site, right next door to tropical bird land (yes you can hear them - it’s fantastic!)
Minimal facilities which were very clean and the closest I’d feel comfortable to “wild” camping!
I arrived during a storm - a month’s worth of rain in a few hours. The pitches were flat and had good drainage! Lovely view of sunset. Lots of new trees planted - it’ll be luscious soon!
Really lovely site. Will return!

Liked Amazing site. Clean quiet and relaxing what more could you want.
Listening to the bird at the tropical bird gardens was an added bonus.
Slight mix up with top gate, ended up in someone's garden, luckily they were ok about it and showed us which way to go. If you are going for a walk it's the gate at the end of the drive way.

Liked Just the most peaceful and relaxing stay.
Great site, very clean. Our group had an amazing time staying here. A wonderful breakfast 😋 was enjoyed by our group at the nearby cafe adjoining the fantastic Tropical Bird Garden. The bird centre proved to be a fascinating experience and is well worth a visit 🤩). The camp site is a 10 minute walk across the fields to the village pub and local Co-op.
Dad's Cave Camping will definitely become one of our regular weekend stopovers - a real hidden gem in tranquil countryside 😊

Plenty of space, peaceful, handy café, close to local pub / shop.
Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch
Liked Rolling countryside... huge pitches...shady footpath walk into Desford (takes about 10 mins) to a great dog friendly pub. Well stocked co-op next to the pub.
On site cafe at Tropical Bird World does a cracking breakfast! Great start to the day. Sounds like you are camping in the jungle when the birds start calling. Basic amenities but all clean and looked after. Friendly host. Bit of a hidden gem this one. Enjoyed it so much, we're going back next weekend!

What customers say
A peaceful, back-to-basics campsite with spacious and well-kept pitches. It's located next to Tropical Birdland and a short walk from Desford village, which offers a pub and shop. Guests appreciate the friendly owner, easy check-in, and good communication. While amenities are basic, they are clean and sufficient for self-sufficient campers. Some mention looking into adding hot water, and there is one portable toilet for the site. Newly planted trees are expected to enhance privacy in the future.
