What customers say

This is a very popular and well-maintained site, praised for its excellent facilities, including a swimming pool, spa, and varied entertainment. Visitors highlight the spacious and clean pitches, direct access to forest walks, and friendly staff. While many report an enjoyable family-friendly experience, some mention issues with Wi-Fi, occasional noise, and limited dog-friendliness within main buildings. A few reviews noted dissatisfaction with communication and staff attitude during their stay.

Mega camping pod (no pets)

Liked Our family of 5 feel in love with this place.

It's beautiful with forest trees surrounding it. Super organised, well maintained grounds and facilities with a great style to the place. The swimming pool sauna, spa and gym are in great condition. A great place for all ages. Plenty of activities for kids and teenagers.
We stayed in a pod and fell in love with it. It was cosy and warm on an autumn 🍂 evening. The grounds seemed magical safe and easy to walk around. The restaurant we didn't use but it looked very nice.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The site was really quiet with great facilities. As I was with my 2 dogs I wasn’t able to take advantage of the swimming pool but it looked amazing. Well stocked shop that was reasonably priced. Shower facilities nice and clean. Great access to the forest walks and only a short walk to the local village.

Disliked Wasn’t able to take my dogs into the restaurant but had a meal as a takeaway. The dog friendly cafe is only open until 5.30. The site would benefit from an additional shower block as it was quite a distance from my pitch and very busy at certain times.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Easy access to great forest paths and cycleways. On site the planning has allowed for both the service and administration buildings, plus the lodges and glamping units to blend in well with the surrounding forest habitat, giving each unit some considerable feeling of independence and privacy. The retention of a large number of mature trees has added to this atmosphere.
The low lighting was very adequate and again added to that part of a forest feeling

Disliked Whilst outside the scope of the park, it was distressing to experience how fast people drove through the forest of Dean, causing huge risk and danger to wildlife and people alike.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked I cannot fault this site.
Second trip here and will be returning again.
Pitch: clean and spacious
Showers and toilets: immaculate and a pleasure to use
The venue: reasonably priced drinks (food a little pricey but good), great atmosphere
Pool : fabulous pool area, clean and nice and warm, steam room one of the best I've been in, family change area and locker code system great. Never seems overly busy and no silly systems for one hour a day or silly booking system
Site: great coffee shop, shop reasonably priced, park and walks.... plenty to do

Disliked We arrived late unfortunately and the weather was awful (can't help that) but we struggled to find our pitch as there's very little lighting. I love the fact it's not lit at night but could do with clearer pitch numbers maybe the numbers lit

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Have stayed here a few times in the week outside of school holidays (less busy and less children 😄)
Enjoy using the pool and the facilities are always clean. There is a good choice of places to eat and decent local hikes

Disliked Would be nice if offered a lower price for single travellers in small camper

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The pitch and forest setting is lovely. Loved the access to forest and cycle trails. Loved the dog play area and local walks.
Toilet block and shower facilities excellent.
Swimming pool and new cafe great as well.
Nice being there when site is quieter. Staff all friendly. Will definitely return, been here many times already but first time with our caravan.

Disliked The only slight thing is it was a bit strange having someone in a mini jeep sat watching and waiting for us to leave our pitch.
This was only our second time packing up with our caravan so we still learning. We found it slightly pushy particularly as we were clearly leaving and only went past 11 by approx 10mins whilst hitching up.

Local attractions

For those seeking a bit of peace and quiet, there are stacks of splendid trails around the Forest of Dean to ramble or ride bikes along (and a bike hire place a few minutes’ walk away in Parkend if you need it). Should the kids demand more from their woodland outings, take them along to seek out dragons and unicorns along the themed trails at Puzzlewood, or launch themselves into the air on the ziplines and high ropes courses at Go Ape; both are 10 minutes away by car. Much of the area’s attraction is linked to its natural good looks, but there’s also manmade interest in the form of the miners’ caverns at Clearwell Caves and the puffing steam trains of the Dean Forest Railway (both 10 minutes' drive). In the unlikely event that you tire of this scenery, head west to the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for days visiting Goodrich Castle (20 minutes) and the Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo (25 minutes), or canoeing from Symonds Yat (25 minutes).
