What customers say

This well-maintained site is praised for its spacious, level pitches, excellent facilities including a pool and spa, and direct access to forest walks. Staff are frequently described as friendly and helpful. While many guests enjoyed the entertainment and amenities, a few noted issues with Wi-Fi, occasional overcrowding, and some pricey activities. The site is highly recommended for families and dog owners, with many guests eager to return.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked I felt the pitch we were on (57) could have been bigger as our awning was right on the bushes.
Showers very unpredictable with it's temperature often too cold.
Last site we were on dogs were allowed in the kids disco but then they didn't have carpet
This hasn't put me off as we really enjoyed our stay and will be back

Disliked As above

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked I really appreciated how quick and efficient the check-in process was, especially being greeted right at the gate. The staff were polite, welcoming, and made a great first impression.

I also love this location. The Forest of Dean is one of my favourite places in the UK, which is exactly why I chose to book here.

Disliked Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this stay. I arrived at 1300 on the 6th and ended up leaving at 0600 the following day after a very restless night. The site was at full capacity and overwhelmingly geared towards children, which was not made clear at the time of booking. Had I known this, I would have chosen to stay elsewhere.

The facilities were not well maintained given the number of guests, and there was very little information provided for adults, such as walking routes or alternative things to do outside the campsite.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re very sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations and that you felt unable to rest comfortably during your visit. Whitemead Forest Park is a family holiday park, and your stay took place during the Easter school holidays, which is one of our busiest and most family‑focused periods of the year. We do clearly advertise school holiday dates on the website, along with details of the facilities, entertainment, and activities that are available on site during these times. During holiday periods the park is naturally much livelier, with a high number of families and children enjoying the facilities. We do have an on‑site noise policy, with quiet hours beginning at 11pm, and staff are on hand to address any issues reported during the evening. Prior to this time, some level of activity and noise is to be expected during peak family holiday periods.
Outside of the school holidays, particularly during midweek off‑peak stays, the park experience is very different. These quieter periods tend to be predominantly adults, and guests often comment on how peaceful and relaxing the atmosphere is. We would always recommend these dates to guests seeking a calm, low‑key stay.
In terms of local information, there is a dedicated Guest Services team available daily to assist with recommendations, questions, and directions. We also provide two large leaflet stands located on site, which include local attraction information, walking routes, and maps of the surrounding area.

Local attractions

For those seeking a bit of peace and quiet, there are stacks of splendid trails around the Forest of Dean to ramble or ride bikes along (and a bike hire place a few minutes’ walk away in Parkend if you need it). Should the kids demand more from their woodland outings, take them along to seek out dragons and unicorns along the themed trails at Puzzlewood, or launch themselves into the air on the ziplines and high ropes courses at Go Ape; both are 10 minutes away by car. Much of the area’s attraction is linked to its natural good looks, but there’s also manmade interest in the form of the miners’ caverns at Clearwell Caves and the puffing steam trains of the Dean Forest Railway (both 10 minutes' drive). In the unlikely event that you tire of this scenery, head west to the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for days visiting Goodrich Castle (20 minutes) and the Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo (25 minutes), or canoeing from Symonds Yat (25 minutes).
