Electric optional grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked: Really liked the owners. So welcoming and friendly. Also, surrounded by nature and a small-holding plus a small fishing lake set up for learning-difficulty people and their families. The lambs were beautiful.
There’s also a crazy golf!

Disliked: The facilities need some work. Toilets need a makeover. The shower is set up for disabled use so we didn’t use it. The owners are constantly working on improvements though

Liked: Great hosts and a wonderful location. We stayed on a summers evening with the site owners pet goats and sheep wandering around the pitches. A good site, well recommended.

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked: Lovely people. Peaceful setting. Perfect location for Gloucester. Pleased to see and support Catchasmile charity.

Disliked: Toilet/dishwashing facilities for campers were a little too basic. Proposed new shower-block will be a great improvement.

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked: Friendly staff, closed gates at night so it was safe (although I only discovered the closed gates in the morning so was not aware that they were going to be closed).

Disliked: There was traffic noise from the M5 and frequent racer cars with adapted exhausts and thumping music on the country lane by the campsite.
The ground was prone to waterlogging and water pooled on the surface of the field after a night of rain.
It was a very expensive night in view of the location, lack of drinking water and showers. The only facility was the toilet.
There were no directions on the website about how to reach the campsite and Google could not provide a route (as it did not recognise the bridge).

Electric optional grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked: The owners are lovely and so welcoming. Very helpful. There is a pub not too far (nice walk down the canal) and there is a cafe on site. It is a lovely place with animals and you can fish there. Also space for a fire (several fire pits). We will certainly back!

Disliked: Nothing really, they are still developing the camping site and will be great when the showers are installed.

Local attractions

You may find that much of your time here is taken up with the antics on site, but it’s really worth leaving time to get out into the wider area – for starters, there are some nice walks to be had on the paths running alongside the River Severn and the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal. You might also like to head into Gloucester city centre (15 minutes’ drive) to visit the cathedral and National Waterways Museum or make use of the shops and restaurants at Gloucester Quays. The Barn Owl Centre (five minutes) is on the way into the city too, or you could head round to the far side to be wowed by the planes at the Jet Age Museum (25 minutes). For a full day out, maybe consider heading west to the Forest of Dean to explore the trails of Puzzle Wood, delve underground at Clearwell Caves or take to the treetops at the Go Ape adventure park – they’re all pretty close to each other and around 45 minutes’ drive from Catchasmile.
