Bag yourselves a Buckinghamshire break at Stoke Poges Campsite and you'll be in one of those excellent locations that mixes up easy access to rural activities with the convenience of staying in a village. As you may have guessed, the village in question is Stoke Poges, a smart place with a food pub and a small supermarket as well as bus stops with services to several handy nearby spots including Slough, where you can connect with mainline train services. For urban outings, it's also easy to get into London via the railway station in Gerrards Cross (five minutes' drive away) – the train journey takes less than half an hour, making this a useful place to know about for those planning a country break with a dip into the capital. And what about those country outings? Well, there are treetop courses and lakeside walks at Black Park Country Park, five minutes’ drive away, and you can go kayaking around the canals of Colne Valley Regional Park (15 minutes’ drive). There are several golf courses within easy reach too, and plenty of open spaces where you can take the dog for a walk. Speaking of dogs, they're very welcome here as long as they’re kept on a lead. There’s also a doggie daycare facility on site (open Monday to Friday) for those times when you're out visiting an attraction where they can’t come along for the ride. Other guest facilities on site include portable toilets, rubbish bins and drinking water taps where you can keep those bottles topped up.

Liked Quiet site, but near to a pub and shop and very close to London. Was close to wild camping but had a water tap and a flushing toilet which was clean but basic.

Liked Could pitch where we liked, plenty of space, back to basics and hardly anyone there.
Barbara was friendly and came to check we had settled in ok!

Disliked Gate was in constant use for doggy daycare and paintballing on site and with no warden this made me worry about the security/safety of my items as the site was open to the public a lot of the time!
Only one toilet which wasn’t the greatest and even with only a couple of families this caused ques!

Liked Owners helpful by supplying code for gate.

Disliked Expected more for the price paid. It was just a large field with no designated pitches. The toilet was unclean with no light so couldn't be used after 9pm. Also there were no lights in the field so after 9pm it was pitch black and we had to use our awning light.

Liked Basic site, ideal for proximity to Windsor and London, close to local pub and shops, liked the fact the gates were kept locked with passcode, friendly owners who checked in on you after you had settled in, with info about site and local area. Also ideal for campers who like to get back to nature with camping amongst trees and camp fires.

Ready for some fresh-air activities? It’s a five-minute drive to Black Park Country Park for walking/bike trails and a Go Ape adventure course, or 15 minutes to Colne Valley Regional Park for canoeing, horse riding, golf and fishing. There are also some lovely walks and bike rides around the Chilterns National Landscape (from 10 minutes' drive). Elsewhere nearby, you could visit Bekonscot Model Village & Railway (15 minutes) to explore the world’s oldest model village and ride the railway, or visit the fabulous 80 acres of garden and woodland at the National Trust’s Cliveden estate (15 minutes). Or maybe head to Windsor (half an hour) to see the castle or try the watersports and aqua park at Plastic Playground Wake Park.
