Sling a trusty bag over your shoulder, grab some sturdy shoes and round up your co-adventurers, as walking trails, mountains and market towns are on the cards from Letton Campground. Close to the River Wye and surrounded by the quiet Herefordshire countryside, this site is well-based for diving into the Wye Valley scenery. A literary plunge is more the tune in Hay-on-Wye (15 minutes’ drive away) – but as well as having famed bookshops and great places to eat, there are also canoes and paddleboards for hire. Back on drier land, national trails crisscross this part of the countryside: the Wye Valley Walk is five minutes’ drive away and the Offa’s Dyke Path is 15 minutes’ drive away. As you'd expect from this setting, the views are pretty splendid (think hills and open farmland with the River Wye running nearby). The site has immediate access to the road going between Hereford and Brecon, so as well as being in a relaxing spot, you’ll be well-connected to other destinations – and a farm shop is five minutes’ drive away if you’re looking for some fresh produce to eat.

Em va agradar Liked the lady who welcomed us. She was really friendly and welcoming. The facilities were brilliant, nice clean toilets & washing up area. It was quiet too which was great…..

No em va agradar The area was a bit untidy, needed weeding & upon arrival it was pitch black so could’ve done with some low level lights to find the pitch number. We were tucked away in a corner & it was hard to find……we could’ve also done with some sort of welcome pack or site map with info on there such as WiFi if available as we had no signal…..

Em va agradar We had a lovely two-night stay at Letton Campground and would definitely return. The campsite is very well maintained, with excellent facilities. The toilets were immaculate, the washroom facilities were great and the on-site shop was a useful bonus.

The pitches are all a good size, with electric and water available. The grass was a little longer than ideal, but given the weather conditions and the time of year, that's completely understandable.

The on-site pub was a real highlight. A good selection of drinks, a great atmosphere and, most importantly, fantastic staff who were extremely welcoming and friendly.

Overall, a really enjoyable stay at a lovely campsite. We would happily recommend it and will definitely be back!

Em va agradar The site was well spaced, mixture of hard and grass pitches with EHU and water. Toilet and showers excellent. Pub onsite which offers a good choice of food and drink at reasonable prices

Em va agradar Wonderful little site. It’s sectioned off behind the swan inn pub. Lovely individual pitches, electric included. Great price if no dogs with you. Lovely shower block & toilets & super honesty box shop stocked with essentials. Definitely stay again. Pub handy for meals too.

No em va agradar Pricey if you bring dogs! £5 each dog per night and no facilities for dogs to warrant the extra charge.

We appreciate your feedback regarding the dog charge. We do charge £5 per dog per night, which helps towards the additional cleaning and maintenance involved with welcoming dogs onto the campsite.

That said, your total for a Friday night, including your pitch, electric hook-up and two dogs, was £28, which we feel still represents very good value for an overnight stay with the facilities provided.

We're delighted to hear you'd definitely stay again and we'd be very happy to welcome you

Em va agradar Very quiet site even though it backs onto a pub.
Very large pitches
Very hot and spacious showers
Friendly bar tender

No em va agradar Kitchen / honesty shop / washing up area was a bit grubby but probably just needed a end of season deep clean
Quite a few tall weeds in the hardstanding areas
Brambles could do with cutting back to make accessing water and electrics easier on those pitches

Walking’s certainly one of the go-to pursuits around here, but what kind of trails will you be clobbering? For those long-distance routes, the 136-mile Wye Valley Walk (five minutes’ drive) passes hills and the river, while the 177-mile Offa's Dyke Path (15 minutes) traces the border between Wales and England. There are challenging mountain paths up in the Black Mountains (an hour and 20 minutes) and for easier-going walking or cycling routes through village landscapes, the Black and White Trail (five minutes) should fit the bill. Of course, the Brecon Beacons National Park (50 minutes) is another hiking hub, but other outdoor activities are in full flow here too, from caving to gorge walking. When you fancy sprinkling some history into your stay, Arthur's Stone (10 minutes) has a decent helping, in the form of a Neolithic tomb linked to King Arthur. Hay-on-Wye (10 minutes) has a castle, or there are museums dotted around Hereford (20 minutes), a nice pairing with a distillery trip or shopping outing. And to round off your historical route, perhaps the National Trust’s The Weir Garden (10 minutes) might serve as a digestif, as this historic garden was once under Roman settlement.
