Borth and Ynyslas Golf Club

As golfing pedigrees go, it’s hard to top north Ceredigion’s Borth and Ynyslas Golf Club, an 18-hole course with a credible claim of being the oldest course in Wales. People have been teeing off here since 1885, and it’s easy to see why, as this course has great views over Borth beach, sand dunes and Cardigan Bay. This popular club is also located about 20 minutes’ drive from the southern edge of Snowdonia National Park, just in case you fancy throwing a bit of mountaineering into the mix

Aberystwyth Golf Club

With a scenic 18-hole course designed by iconic Open champion Harry Vardon, our next Mid Wales golf club has far-reaching views over the coast and Aberystwyth town centre below. Set in an elevated position and with coastal winds that make calculating your shot that little bit more of a challenge, Aberystwyth Golf Course is very popular with locals and visitors, who can take advantage of buggy and trolley hire. Aberystwyth Golf Course also has a licensed café and bar serving a range of Italian favourites.

Watching a sunset over Cardigan Bay

Cardigan Golf Club

Drive south for an hour along the A487 (stopping for a quayside ice cream in Aberaeron along the way) and you’ll reach our penultimate pick. Cardigan Golf Club (or Clwb Golff Aberteifi to use its name in Welsh) is another seaside spot with spectacular views. This is a spacious coastal course of 18 holes, the final few of which are widely held to be the most memorable. Please bear in mind that there is a smart casual dress code here and that golf shoes shouldn't be worn inside the clubhouse.

Felin Geri Disc Golf Course

For something a little different, head to the southernmost part of Ceredigion and Felin Geri Disc Golf Course, a family-friendly disc golf club near the border with Carmarthenshire.

Heading here is a very accessible option and is a great way to get the kids outdoors, as there's both a nine-tee family course and a standard 12-tee competition course to choose from. After a little exertion outside, food is available from the café during the day, with cooked breakfasts, light lunches and early evening meals on offer.
