A aimé Great location, liked the site, lovely views, up a track, great little spots to pitch which you can choose. Facilities what you expect when ‘wild camping’. In theory it should have been everything we like, but it’s not a suitable site for a young children unfortunately, so we won’t return.

N'a pas aimé Big groups pitched with a lot of partying going on. Even the smaller groups of young people in large tents were swearing and drinking till early hours of the morning. Young lads rally driving up the track, which I walked down with my 3 year old to see the horses, this frightened her as we had to get off the track quickly to be safe. There’s nobody enforcing the quiet time rules. So unfortunately we won’t be returning, which is a shame. Maybe during the week it’s better but avoid a Saturday night unless drinking and partying is what you enjoy.

A aimé The location was beautiful, the owner was lovely & very friendly. It was perfect for a 1 night stay. There is a pub half a mile away so perfect if you don't feel like cooking or if you fancied a drink.

N'a pas aimé The washing up station had no water, however the campsite was at full capacity & it had just been the heatwave/drought. This was no real issue as we were only there for a night & we brought our own large bottle of water. The toilets weren't horrendous, but they are as you would expect for a full campsite & them being portable toilets.

A aimé Location is perfect, in between Kendal and Windermere. The sunset views were amazing! Only about 10 minutes in the car from Windemere where we like to go for a walk up Orrest head with the kids and we’re able to pick up some extra food from the shops. It is a back to basics campsite so there are only portaloos (these were cleaned every morning and night) and a washing up point (only produces cold water), make sure you take lots of water for drinking and cooking. There is a skip where you can discard of your rubbish too. We took our two children and had a lovely screen free weekend enjoying the Lake District! Our children loved seeing the alpacas and sheep in the fields next to the site.

N'a pas aimé You could hear a main road at night, we did read this on a previous review but it wasn’t so distracting that we couldn’t sleep.

A aimé Nice views and not too many tents for very peak season. Staff was helpful, friendly and often around in early evening and morning. Good mobile reception.

N'a pas aimé Satnav took us wrong way using google maps from website. I recommend searching for Windermere camp site as it is right next door and very well signed from there. Allowed very large groups of young adults, not a problem for us but just a small word of warning if that is a big no for you as was pretty loud at night.

N'a pas aimé Long road up to site was ridiculous- if you have a nice car, don’t come.
The field is pretty rough- was driving around looking for a pitch and my car bottomed out on a rock lol.
Charged us extra- I payed for 6 ppl at £8 each for 2 night (amazing price) but then when we got there since we had 4 2 man tents they charged us a fortune extra as if we were at separate pitches even tho probably used less space than others with 6-8 man tents that were there on 1 pitch.
Bloke was a total jobsworth- government alert issued warning about fires and bbqs. It stated that it is ADVISED to not have any fires or bbqs- not LAW and the bloke made everyone put fire out and bbq out and all of our food went bad since all we had was bbq food and we had to spend a fortune locally on pub meals and places to eat.
Wasn’t allowed a single peep after 10pm otherwise he’d come over and say someone had complained even tho everyone else was making as much noise as us. This bloke was very prejudice and judging towards us as we were 6 lads in tracksuits- he must have came over atleast 10 times with something to say but no one else had a problem with us.
Ridiculous really- spoilt the whole experience
