If your main requirement for a place to stay in Powys is a peaceful spot with lovely green scenery all around, Carmel Caravan Park could well be the place for you. This place is rural and remote, with rather wonderful views of the hills all around – just the spot for a proper countryside chill-out. There’s a pub about five minutes’ drive away in the village of Cefn Coch, but that’s about it for local facilities; for shops, places to eat and other urban amenities you’ll need to head to Welshpool, about 25 minutes away. There are plenty of practical facilities on site, though – including a launderette, washing-up areas and a guest fridge-freezer, plus a smart modern bathroom block with accessible facilities and underfloor heating to keep your toes warm. In such a thoroughly rural setting you’ll really be able to throw yourselves into farming life if you want to. This is a family-run site where the owners have been offering a warm welcome for more than 60 years – and these days that includes offering guests the chance to help out with the everyday running of the place through things like lamb feeding in spring. Even if you don’t choose to get stuck in, you’ll no doubt want to say hello to the farm’s friendly pet sheep; they’re amenable to being taken for a walk too. For other countryside pursuits, there’s coarse and fly fishing available on site, and plenty of places to get out for walks nearby. Back on site, there’s a playground for the kids and a secure dog run where four-legged guests can get the zoomies out of their system.

Disliked Bit uneven where we decided to pitch up and with bugs/flys but I believe, both of those was our faults as we has full choice where to pitch and decided to pitched up next to the stream.

Liked Where do I start, the pitches were huge, Sharon and her mum were so friendly. We had visits from a lamb which was an added perk. The showers and toilets were very clean and checked regularly. There is a large play area with an enclosed dog run that runs parallel to a field with a donkey who loves running alongside the dogs (very funny to watch)! The scenery is stunning, your sat in between two hills and there is no traffic noise (bliss). Either way, we will be visiting again!

Disliked Unfortunately, there is a man who lets this whole experience down. We witnessed a few occasions where he’d been very rude for absolutely no reason, including to ourselves. So if you avoid him, the site is completely faultless!

Liked Beautiful, well kept site. Toilet facilities were excellent. Lovely clean well
Kept children's park with enclosed dog walking filed in viewing distance from the park. Lots of scenic grounds to walk and explore. Owners are friendly and welcoming.

Liked Lovley clean park .showers and toilet block one of the cleanest weve had when camping .Sharon the owner is lovley and very friendly, she works so hard and always cleaning the shower block and doing her rounds .we had a huge pitch and ahd a fab time and definitely recommend and will return in the summer .

Liked Absolutely loved this site very friendly, toilets and showers were super clean and the kids loved the park, there was a enclosed field for our dog to run around in, Sharon was brilliant and very helpful, we will deffinately be going back.

Liked Such a friendly welcome! Feeding the lambs with Sharon who was amazing! Site was perfect for families! Great playground. We ended up staying an extra night!
