If your main requirement for a place to stay in Powys is a peaceful spot with lovely green scenery all around, Carmel Caravan Park could well be the place for you. This place is rural and remote, with rather wonderful views of the hills all around – just the spot for a proper countryside chill-out. There’s a pub about five minutes’ drive away in the village of Cefn Coch, but that’s about it for local facilities; for shops, places to eat and other urban amenities you’ll need to head to Welshpool, about 25 minutes away. There are plenty of practical facilities on site, though – including a launderette, washing-up areas and a guest fridge-freezer, plus a smart modern bathroom block with accessible facilities and underfloor heating to keep your toes warm. In such a thoroughly rural setting you’ll really be able to throw yourselves into farming life if you want to. This is a family-run site where the owners have been offering a warm welcome for more than 60 years – and these days that includes offering guests the chance to help out with the everyday running of the place through things like lamb feeding in spring. Even if you don’t choose to get stuck in, you’ll no doubt want to say hello to the farm’s friendly pet sheep; they’re amenable to being taken for a walk too. For other countryside pursuits, there’s coarse and fly fishing available on site, and plenty of places to get out for walks nearby. Back on site, there’s a playground for the kids and a secure dog run where four-legged guests can get the zoomies out of their system.

Gostou Very friendly staff, stunning views and great facilities! You can't forget the lambs too, this site is great for kids! Plus purchasable WiFi and it's fast!

Não gostou The new shower block is great! But the other two are a little dated, nothing to complain about though, they work, they're clean and the showers get nice and hot!

Gostou Everything!! Don't no where to start, had the best time with the misses and kids, Sharon is amazing! She was so thoughtful brought out children a Easter egg because we missed the morning hunt, also the baby lambs!! My kids won't stop going on about them🤣🤣 despite the weather we had aswell the kids had a blast and keep asking to go back 😂🤦🏼‍♂️thank you for having us and we will DEFINITELY be returning 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Gostou EVERYTHING!!

We had a beautiful 6 night stay at Carmel. On arrival we were greeted by Sharon and her mom who were lovely. We were able to pick which pitch we wanted so we chose one close to the play area for the kids. The site is immaculate, toilet block very clean. Washing stations really good. The play area was brilliant, and right next to the enclosed dog run which was really handy.

But mainly I want to say how lovely Sharon and her family are. So accommodating with everything. Our children LOVED seeing the baby lambs. And getting to sit in the tractor. Just really friendly down to earth people. It was no bother to them taking time out their busy day (as it was lambing time) to chat with us and let the children fuss the lambs. The kids even got an Easter egg ❤️

We'll definitely be back!

Gostou The welcome and help from the owners is the best I have received on any campsite I have been to!
My daughter and her family joined us for the weekend in their tent. The weather, on arrival, was awful and the owners offered an empty static caravan until the weather cleared the next day in order to put the tent up.
Toilet block is immaculate and always clean.
The site is kept spotless, all amenities available to your pitch, although you will need 30m plus for water and electric hook up on some of the pitches.
Nice touch, my daughter and her family invited to meet and feed the newly born lambs. I know my daughter was thrilled to do this.
Just be aware there is no phone signal or WiFi therefore you will need to buy from the owners. It worked just fine for us, no problems.

Gostou Located in a quiet part of the Welsh countryside which may not suit everyone but was ideal for us. Individual electric hook up and water supply to each pitch. Toilet and shower facilities with communal fridge freezer, washing machine and dryer, absolutely first class. Staff friendly and helpful. Site also has it's own fishing lakes. Very affordable.

Não gostou Had a slight problem connecting with WiFi using PayPal, it said connected but it was intermittent. Not a major problem though. Would definitely stay here again, maybe in one of their lodges.

Gostou Beautiful and quiet site with very friendly owners. Brilliant facilities - some of the best we’ve ever used! Spacious pitches - and best of all, no phone signal or internet!

Não gostou Not a dislike, but just to note that we were told Llanfair Caerinion is closer than Welshpool for supplies if needed!

Meanwhile, for gentler days out you could choose to take a ride on the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway (15 minutes) or opt for a stroll through the gorgeous gardens at Gregynog Hall (20 minutes).
