  • Peaceful Powys site on a remote family-run sheep farm
  • A 25-minute drive to Welshpool; Gregynog Hall 20 minutes
  • Playground and dog run on site; guests can join in with farm tasks
If your main requirement for a place to stay in Powys is a peaceful spot with lovely green scenery all around, Carmel Caravan Park could well be the place for you. This place is rural and remote, with rather wonderful views of the hills all around – just the spot for a proper countryside chill-out. There’s a pub about five minutes’ drive away in the village of Cefn Coch, but that’s about it for local facilities; for shops, places to eat and other urban amenities you’ll need to head to Welshpool, about 25 minutes away. There are plenty of practical facilities on site, though – including a launderette, washing-up areas and a guest fridge-freezer, plus a smart modern bathroom block with accessible facilities and underfloor heating to keep your toes warm. In such a thoroughly rural setting you’ll really be able to throw yourselves into farming life if you want to. This is a family-run site where the owners have been offering a warm welcome for more than 60 years – and these days that includes offering guests the chance to help out with the everyday running of the place through things like lamb feeding in spring. Even if you don’t choose to get stuck in, you’ll no doubt want to say hello to the farm’s friendly pet sheep; they’re amenable to being taken for a walk too. For other countryside pursuits, there’s coarse and fly fishing available on site, and plenty of places to get out for walks nearby. Back on site, there’s a playground for the kids and a secure dog run where four-legged guests can get the zoomies out of their system.

Liked A Perfect Camping Experience – 10/10!

From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming — nothing was too much trouble for them.

The site itself is immaculately maintained. Not a single piece of rubbish in sight, the grass is perfectly trimmed, and everything feels well cared for.

The tent pitches are some of the best we’ve experienced. Each one comes with power and water, is level and free from any debris or stones, and offers plenty of space — you never feel crowded or too close to other campers.

The toilet and shower block is excellent, equipped with everything you could need: hot showers, a washer and dryer, ironing board, and even a communal fridge-freezer. Like the rest of the site, it was spotless.

The children’s play area was a big hit too — generously sized, thoughtfully designed, and with enough room for ball games and running around.

All in all, this campsite truly impressed us with its cleanliness, facilities, and hospitality. I’ll definitely be returning and would recommend it to anyone without hesitation.

Fully-serviced hardstanding pitch

Liked From the moment we arrived, the service was brilliant. We were greeted warmly. The site was clean, including toilet and shower areas. We had the chance to see and lambs with the children. There was a park area as well, this was an added bonus. The park was quite and tranquil. Will definitely be returning soon!

Liked Everything. It was lovely the owners couldn't do more for us esp when the dog got spooked with it being busy (bank holiday weekend) and let us move to a quieter area . Although we only live an hour away we would def go back, nothing was too much for them . Beautiful setting . Able to buy fresh eggs .. yum yum ! Go visit and enjoy

Liked Everything - This was our first experience as caravan owners and this site showed everything that sold the idea to us. The owners welcomed us onto site and nothing was too much trouble. The facilities are clean and well laid out. Having the dog run area was amazing for our 2 dogs. Added to all of this is the area itself. Great views and it was a lovely little walk around the site. We will definitely be returning but for longer next time.

Fully-serviced hardstanding pitch

Liked Very friendly atmosphere, This was the first time on a touring pitch, Sharon was amazing and very helpful. It was the end of the lambing season and it was good to help feed the baby lambs and learn more about them.

The facilities were basic but a very good standard, everything in the description on the site was spot on, the site was very clean and well kept.

I would highly reccomend this site and I'll be returning 100%.
