General

  • Peaceful spacious site 15 minutes' drive from Glasgow city centre
  • Loch Lomond and the Trossachs within 45 minutes’ drive
  • Five minutes' walk from spotting deer at Frankfield Loch

Park up for your hols at Red Deer Village Holiday Park, a family-friendly site less than five minutes’ drive from the small Lanarkshire town of Stepps and within easy reach of Glasgow city centre.

This is a top spot for a city break with the peace of a countryside retreat: those who crave urban explores will be well- erved by Glasgow – a 15-minute drive or a 25-minute train ride from base – where strolls through botanic gardens, sups at distilleries, culture at museums and galleries, and splendid shopping is all around.

For those more in need of a rural getaway, there’s plenty round here to satisfy too: the Frankfield Loch wildlife sanctuary is a five-minute walk away for wanders among wild deer, and a 20-minute walk along paths from the site will bring intrepid adventurers to Cardowan Moss woodland, where there’s a network of trails to follow on foot or by bike.

Don’t spend too long away from site the though – settle in for quiet evenings away from crowds and chaos with some self-catered evenings by the barbecue (buy gas on site), piling on food picked up from the well-stocked shop nearby. Otherwise, Stepps has a handy pub, café and restaurant within 15 minutes' walk of the site.

Clean up after dinner by dispatching humans to the always-hot showers, and sort dishes (and stained clothes from sloppy eaters) at the dishwashing facilities and launderette.

Distance from Stepps new railway link to and from Glasgow. A very quiet site with limited amount of pegs on hard surface which is fine for me. Toilet/showers were clean

    Disliked:

Limited amount fresh water and grey water on the hard standing areas would be nice to connect to both at the pitch. Toilets were limited to two of each could see access of the site was full but only three units there at the time

Wonderfully clean and well laid out. We arrived after five in the afternoon but we were able to find our way as the signs were very clear. As it was the end of winter we had the touring section of the Park to ourselves but we felt very secure and the area was well lit....maybe a bit too bright but we had black out curtains in the caravan.
We were really appreciative about being able to stop at Red Deer Village Holiday Park with our dogs. We were delighted to find a great walk onto the hill nearby from where we could see magnificent views. We would like to pay tribute to helpful ground staff, who went the extra distance to answer a couple of questions.
    We would definitely stay again.

Came back after being out and someone was in our pitch. This did get sorted but was a little stressful. It felt very expensive for what was offered, particularly pitch location as more like a car park with hook-up.

The site was quiet and with superb amenities that were kept at an immaculate standard throughout our visit. The people within the village were extremely friendly and always wanting to help.

    Disliked:

Having to wait two hours to check in regardless of the instructions on the "assistance telephone", lack of updated check in times was disappointing bearing in mind that I am aware that it is the autumn season!
