For a teeny seaside village, there’ll be quite a bit to be going on with if you book a campsite in Brean. (We’d say it’s the stuff that holiday Breans are made of, but even we must draw the line somewhere.)
The beach here is brill: it’s part of the seven-mile run of dune-edged sands running from neighbouring Burnham-on-Sea, and contains also brill Brean Down (look up), a 97-metre high headland with a tropical bird garden, Victorian fort and views over the Bristol Channel and the Somerset Levels. Prefer more dizzying heights? Pack the family off to the rollercoasters and thrill rides at Brean Leisure Park, where, once suitably dazed, you’ll also find a golf course, water park and family entertainment.
Brean camping is also in brill position for Weston-super-Mare just along the coast, or the famous Cheddar Gorge, the Mendip Hills, Glastonbury and Wells inland… Horse riding can be had among the hills if you’re having a day away from the coast; if not; canter along the beach at Brean kicking up the golden sand.
