  • Peaceful rural Somerset caravan site 10 minutes' drive from Bridgwater
  • Quantock Hills 10 minutes' drive; 20 minutes to the coast
  • Dog-friendly pitches with footpath by the site for walks
With Bridgwater about 10 minutes’ drive away to the east, the Quantock Hills National Landscape a similar distance to the west and the coast about 20 minutes to the north, Cutters Combe Caravan Park is in a splendid spot for exploring Somerset. This is a family-friendly park that also welcomes dogs – there’s a footpath right by the site for long walks across the fields, and plenty of woodland nearby for more strolls (or bike rides for those not taking a dog out…). Sailing and fishing are a couple of minutes’ drive away at Durleigh Reservoir and there’s also a golf course a similar drive away in the other direction. Minehead and Taunton are within easy reach for more activities and amenities, and Bridgwater has plenty to do including a cinema and a bowling alley. When you’re not out and about, you’ll be staying on a spacious hardstanding pitch with electric hook-up and a grass area for your awning or a gazebo. The site is all very peaceful and secure, with electric gates at the entrance and a good collection of facilities including an accessible bathroom block with a laundry area and washing-up sink. Barbecues are permitted too, and there are picnic tables dotted around for your alfresco meals and drinks.

Local attractions

This is a great area for those who want to get out and about in nature – for starters, the Quantock Hills National Landscape is just a few minutes’ drive away for wonderful trails through ancient oak woodland and heathland with some fabulous views. Heading towards the coast instead, there’s some excellent birdwatching at WWT Steart Marshes (20 minutes’ drive). To mix up that lovely scenery with a bit of local heritage, head to the National Trust sites at Burrow Mump (25 minutes) and Fyne Court (10 minutes), the latter with paths through the wild gardens and woods around a grand house that was destroyed by fire in the late 19th century. Hestercombe House & Gardens (15 minutes) is another lovely option, as is the elegant Dunster Castle (40 minutes). Other outings nearby might take you to the new-age shops of Glastonbury (half an hour), to the sandy beach in Minehead (50 minutes) or to the animal encounters of Tropiquaria Zoo (half an hour). You might also want to try County Classics Motor Museum or Coates English Willow Visitor Centre (both 25 minutes) for a different day out.
