What customers say
This well-rated, budget-friendly campground offers a relaxed vibe and strong community feel. Guests love the friendly owners, clean (if basic) restrooms, and farm animals. It's an excellent base for exploring, with plenty of space and no assigned spots. Minor notes on toilet paper and occasional noise don't detract from overwhelmingly positive stays.

Great hosts and clean facilities
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite (two person)
Liked I chose this site last minute for my first time camping as it wasn’t too far from home.
Having always been a hotel person, I wasn’t sure if I would even like camping.
I found the hosts to be great, extremely helpful and friendly. Asked several times over the time I was there if I was okay.
It was quiet and other campers were friendly.
Toilet and showers were clean. Very calm atmosphere with some cute animals in the areas over the hedges (I’ve never been an ‘animal person!).
Ostriches, peacocks, goats, sheep and a cow and her calf.
Great walks around if you like walking.
I was just happy to sit and while away the day with a glass of wine and trying out my stove.
There were picnic benches to sit on and have a chat, fire pits for note and could buy logs on site.
I would go back just for the peace and quiet.
Lots to do on the area. You’ll run out of time!

Great stay. Good value for money.
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite (three person)
Liked Lovely stay at Hallett’s campsite. We were greeted as soon as we arrived and told where everything was. My daughter loved the Highland cow in the field and the owner allowed her to see his other animals. It is very basic but perfect for a night.
Disliked There are only two toilets and one didn’t flush for some of the time but we went out most of the time so not a massive issue.

Superb campsite, friendly owners, lots of animals, but cold showers.
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite (three person)
Liked Friendly owners. I hadn’t realised there would be animals there when I booked, so that was an added bonus. The owner let us in to stroke the cows and see all the animals. Kids loved that! Nice clean toilets and showers.
Disliked Cold showers and having to keep pressing the button to get the water running again. Great on a hot day, but not on a cold foggy morning. Definitely woke me up properly.
Small gripe: the ash bin was overflowing, but despite these small gripes, we had a really enjoyable experience and would definitely go back.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite (two person)
Liked Relaxed atmosphere, beautiful location, great clean facilities, ice cream van turning up was added bonus too!
Disliked Slightly later shower times would’ve been nice, but that’s only because it was so warm until late.

Second visit to this wonderful campsite…
Primitive grass RV campsite
Liked Second visit to this wonderful campsite and it was just as great as the first time especially with the addition of the new showers and the cocktail cart. Very friendly owners and fellow campers. Very relaxed atmosphere and a good location to explore Portland.
