Pool complex

  • Family-run site on the Jurassic Coast with several play areas
  • Private beach and secluded bay access for guests
  • Golf and an entertainment and pool complex with a multi-lane slide
Tucked away in the scenic countryside overlooking the historic Jurassic Coast, Ladram Bay Holiday Park is a Devon seaside holiday park with something for all folks. As a large, privately owned holiday park, there are heaps of facilities on site, including (but, of course, not limited to) the Three Rocks entertainment complex and a swimming pool complex with a multi-lane slide and an indoor and outdoor splash zone. That's not to mention its very own private beach and secluded bay… An adventure playground with a giant pirate ship and an outdoor playground (with a multi-level adventure frame with slides, wobbly bridges, tunnels and obstacle course elements) are just a couple more picks at this friendly family park; a toddlers' area with a smaller climbing frame means that mini guests have suitable space to play too. On top of that, kids’ and teen clubs should keep all entertained during the day As should the Jurassic-themed adventure golf course and indoor soft play area (available for ages up to 12). The soft play area is – most thoughtfully – right next door to the Pebbles Restaurant. The Three Rocks complex is home to an amusement arcade, Waves Bar and Nightspot and Sky and BT sports on the big screen. Elsewhere, supplies are covered with the well-stocked supermarket, Beach Shack and the Coast Takeaway for essential holiday fish and chips. Plus, at the pool complex, there is a sauna, Jacuzzi, steam room and a gym. Looking for even more to do? Ladram Bay Holiday Centre has a programme of instructor-led activities for a reasonable extra charge, where grownups and kids can try their hands at raft building, sea scooters and body zorbing. Or have a day on the centre’s private beach, with watersports from the shore, rockpooling towards the far end and kayak, rowing boat or motorboat hire from the kiosk.

Liked: Really liked this site, superb location for the beach, very clean and tidy, great play parks, football pitch over looking the sea.

Pitches were great, level and good space. We stayed in the Hillside area so close to everything on site.

Disliked: No dislikes at all

Liked: Location is amazing with private beach access. Food and drink options are multiple and very good (we had the fish and chips both nights as it was so good). Staff were all really friendly and helpful. The shop is huge and very well stocked with everything you could need from toothpaste, something to cook for dinner to beach equipment and gifts to take home.
The pool is great for kids. Smaller ones will enjoy the fun shallow area next to the slide. The main pool is 1.2 metres all the way across which makes it much easier for the kids.
The play area outside the pool and restaurant is also really nice and the kids can play while the adults relax.
There’s entertainment on for kids and the arcade is a good size (although the prizes are awful, so just play for fun!).
Touring pitch was a good size and toilets and showers were kept nice and clean.
For a big site, it wasn’t noisy either!

Disliked: It is a big site with lots and lots of static caravans as well as camping and touring, pods, etc and everything is quite close together. This isn’t necessarily a downside, just that we’re used to something a bit smaller and spacious.
Mobile and internet signal is bad. There’s free wifi in the main building but it couldn’t even connect. Luckily we got 4g on and off up at our pitch.
A bit pricey. Yes, there’s a lot on site to warrant the nightly cost but swimming and mini golf cost extra on top of that. Even subsidised (you get a discount as a camper) it was £11 a time for my son and I to swim and you have to book it a day in advance.

Liked: The onsite shop is great with all the essentials. Fish and chips were delicious. The meals I had at Pebbles Restaurant were really good especially the blue cheese steak and pizza! Whole site pretty immaculate and the restrooms were so clean. Lovely view from a great pitch. Staff so friendly and helpful. Lovely chilled weekend. Thank you all!

Disliked: Whilst I could take the pups to the Beach bar and see the sea, dogs are not allowed o the beach at anytime. Bit hard when the beach was totally devoid of people by 7pm and it would have been great to take him there. Only other observation on a sunny weekend was the mat the dog water bowls around the site were a bit dirty and hadn’t been topped up

Liked: Staff very hepful, the site clean and well kept. The shower and loo block was clean. The views were amazing. well stocked shop
Bar and Entertainment was good (my point of view) we had a wonderful stay thank you

Disliked: Only one Rubbish area. BBQ allowed on pitches which I felt was a safety issue with children running about also a lot of smoke which came in to your vans. Only other problem pitches not made clear which way you could put your caravan or campervan as people were parking on other people's grass areas.

Disliked: We had booked a holiday here and were looking forward to it however my wife was diagnosed with cancer and after the operation she was readmitted for over a week while we were supposed to be away. Obviously this was out of the ordinary and all other life admin took a backseat. When I contacted the sites to explain as to why we were not able to attend and ask for a change of dates I was met with a less than compassionate response.
No refund, no scope to rearrange. It is understood that there is a business to run however under the circumstances I would have appreciated some kindness and feel this kind of situation falls under the category of extenuating circumstances (given the choice of spending a week in hospital vs a week on holiday it’s not like we would have chosen the hospital)

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Anthony,
Firstly, we want to say how truly sorry we are to hear about what you and your wife have been going through. We understand how disappointing it must have been to miss out on a holiday you were looking forward to, especially under such challenging circumstances. Please know that we absolutely empathise with your situation. Regarding your booking, we want to gently clarify that reservations made through Pitch Up are subject to their specific terms and conditions, which we, as a site, are obliged to adhere to. Unfortunately, this sometimes limits the flexibility we might otherwise wish to offer directly in cases such as yours. We do hope to be able to welcome you and your wife to Ladram Bay in the future.

Kind regards,
Charlotte and The Ladram Bay Team

Local attractions

Once you’re ready to go off site – sometime around week two, probably – the South West Coast Path is steps away and has stellar walks to Budleigh Salterton to the west and Sidmouth to the east. Inland, the Budleigh Salterton to Otterton five-mile walk follows the banks of the River Otter; the Otter Valley Wildlife Walk is an easy stroll through the Lower Otter Valley nature reserve to look out for kingfishers and waders from the river’s viewing platforms and hides. Twitchers can also head inland to the Exe Estuary RSPB reserve 13 miles away to see migratory birds or book a boat trip to spot avocets. Finally, if fishing’s your main hook, you won’t have far to go: many Ladram Bay guests fish from the park’s own cove, hiring a boat from the kiosk and going out to land mackerel for the grill.
