Ladram Bay Holiday Park: Camping

General

  • Family-run site on the Jurassic Coast with several play areas
  • Private beach and secluded bay access for guests
  • Golf, free entertainment and pool complex with Jacuzzi and sauna

Cor. You'll have to eat your collective hats if lads and lasses of all sizes don’t find a mega amount of things to do at Ladram Bay Holiday Centre overlooking the Jurassic Coast – it’s billed as the holiday park with ‘something for everyone’ and has been heaped with awards over the years. Having its own private beach and secluded bay probably helps too…

An adventure playground with giant pirate ship (aaaarrr) and a fab outdoor playground (with multi-level adventure frame with slides, wobbly bridges, tunnels and obstacle course elements) are just a couple of the picks at this friendly family park; a toddlers' area with a smaller climbing frame means that mini guests have suitable space to play too. On top of that, kids’ and teen clubs will keep all entertained during the day, and the arcade with games should see them additionally amused.

As should the megasaurus Jurassic-themed adventure golf course and its lurking dinosaurs, and the pool complex with slides, fountains, sauna, Jacuzzi, steam room and gym. On a fine day, the outdoor splash zone is the place for water babes and non-swimmers alike to play with spray jets, water features and pirate ships. An indoor soft play area is available for ages up to 12 – and, most thoughtfully – is right next door to the Pebbles Restaurant.

The soft play area and other pastimes are in the Three Rocks complex, which also has the amusement arcade, Waves Bar and Nightspot and Sky and BT sports on the big screen. Elsewhere, supplies are covered with the well-stocked supermarket, Beach Shack and the Coast Takeaway for essential holiday fish and chips.

Looking for even more to do? Ladram Bay Holiday Centre has a programme of instructor-led activities for a reasonable extra charge, where grownups and kids can try their hands at raft building, sea scooters and body zorbing. Or have a day on the centre’s private beach, with watersports from the shore, rockpooling towards the far end and kayak, rowing boat or motorboat hire from the kiosk.

Setting is fantastic, site very clean, staff are very friendly and you can see work hard, fully serviced pitch was a good size, new to us where a tractor transported your van too and from the pitch, shop had an ace selection and not your usual tat, it was well stocked and reasonably priced, we used the chippy one night which was ordered on the app so no waiting around we just picked up and went back to van, then on the last night went to the restaurant and had a carvery which was lovely and well worth the money.

    Disliked:

Not really a dislike but is quite a large site somewhere we wouldn’t usually choose not necessarily go back but would definitely recommend to friends and family with children

Stunning sea view, ease of check in. Downloaded the app so could book the pool, a table at Pebbles and order to the table and from the fantastic chip shop. Loved the shop which is reasonably priced and well stocked Maggie was so friendly.
We had a hookup on the ridge and sea view is just perfect. WiFi there was excellent too. Highlight of our stay was hiring a Ladram boat £35 for an hour a birthday gift to husband was just perfect!

    Disliked:

The Sunday carvery we went later so was cold and not good. WiFi from entertainment area and beach not great Wish there were more then 2 sinks to wash up such a busy site really needs more.

    Facilities were good & clean

    Disliked:

Usually only stay at small sites (this one is huge & very busy) but the location, with a beach, was perfect for our 1 night stay & they state they are dog friendly…. Imagine our disappointment when we get there & dogs are NOT allowed on the beach.
Would not have booked if this was advertised.

From the manager...

Thank you for leaving you review. To clarify, our policy on dogs is very clearly stated on our listing under the 'Please note' section; "Dogs are not allowed on the site beach. There is a covered seating area on the restaurant's deck where dogs are welcome." We try to make it as clear as possible to avoid disappointment.

Friendly staff, convenient for coastal path. Modern shower block & toilets.
    The beach and bay itself.

    Disliked:

The noise! Constant traffic, tractors pulling caravans to & fro most of the day! No convenient bins, we’re told due to seagulls but other sites cope alright, it’s a cop out. It was like staying in a busy town.

Local attractions

Once you’re ready to go off site – sometime around week two, probably – the South West Coast Path is steps away and has stellar walks to Budleigh Salterton to the west and Sidmouth to the east.

Inland, the Budleigh Salterton to Otterton five-mile walk follows the banks of the River Otter; the Otter Valley Wildlife Walk is an easy stroll through the Lower Otter Valley nature reserve to look out for kingfishers and waders from the river’s viewing platforms and hides. Twitchers can also head inland to the Exe Estuary RSPB reserve 13 miles away to see migratory birds or book a boat trip to spot avocets.

Finally, if fishing’s your main hook, you won’t have far to go: many Ladram Bay guests fish from the park’s own cove, hiring a boat from the kiosk and going out to land mackerel for the barbie.
