  • Lively family park five minutes' drive from the coast at Looe
  • Huge range of facilities including cabaret room, bar, diner and café
  • Indoor pool, toddlers' pool, swim lessons, sports room and shop
‘We’re all going on a summer holiday…’ And a spring, autumn and, er, winter one too… At Tencreek Holiday Park, the nearest park to lovely Looe in Cornwall, you and the family can arrive in all seasons as a base for the best of south-east Cornwall and Devon, or just stay on site to spoil yourselves silly with the lashings of facilities and entertainment for all ages. And the views are pretty tenfastic too… Tencreek is aimed at families and couples, and as such has any number of tiptop things to try: a kids’ club just for starters, and an adventure playground and sports pitch for small sorts to whirl around outside. More grownuply, the park also has the Castaway entertainment complex with large cabaret room, bar, Deano’s Diner and indoor sports room with darts and pool; there's also family entertainment every night from the Yellow Coats and Tencreek mascots. Don’t forget the dog either: the park is dog friendly and has a dog walking area with access to the public footpath. If it rains, the kids won’t even notice once you get them to the heated indoor pool and toddlers’ pool, which are also open all year and free to use (there are classes such as Aquafit and kids’ swimming lessons available at a small additional charge). The thoughtful folk at Tencreek have ensured that the pool is always lifeguarded, and there are even adults-only sessions at times, if you can manage to get the kids dried off and packed off for a bit… The park also has a fully-stocked food shop, a café with takeaway and a modern laundry.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Clean and spacious facilities

Disliked This is not a quiet, natural camping spot, if that is what you are looking for. The smoking pool was already closed when we arrived at about 5 pm and wouldn't open until 10:45. You have to leave the pitch by 10:00, which is rather early and doesn't add to a relaxing experience. No footpath to Looe or the cost, you'll have to walk the road. Wifi is super expensive.

Toilets clean. Free icey tap water at the bar. Bar staff friendly.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Sea view and swimming pool included in the price (some sites charge extra). Entertainment also included.
Prices realistic at the bar.
Family shower rooms (1 shower but larger area to get changed).
Pitch sizes a good size.

Disliked The pitch sloped. We asked to move, the lady said no even though 60% of the pitches was empty. The lady said this is Cornwall. We have lived in Cornwall for a years there's such a thing as leveling the ground. Particularly for a business! Ground maintenance provided concrete blocks..
The first shower I had barely warm.
The swimming pool water COLD! Little ones lips turned blue so we got out.
No rattler on draught!
Arcade most of it not working correctly.
You have to pay for WIFI.

Our third year here, we will definitely be returning.

Liked The faculities were nice and clean the location was good nice walks into the town.

Disliked It says dog friendly but it's not we would have used the bar and eating area if there was a dog area. I don't think sitting on a grass area away from the bar drinking out of plastic cups is very good. It needs a designate area inside somewhere for families with dogs to sit and eat and have a drink.

Amazing vale for money. Only £30 for a 2 night stay.

Powered grass campsite (maximum 6 metres)

Liked The pitch was a good size
The toilet shower blocks were immaculate although felt a little insecure.

Disliked For a Big site, The shop was to small very little in it.
Our scenery was spoilt due to the old fallen apart residential vans.
The place said dog friendly. Which it most defiantly was not. No bowls out, no place inside to go with them for entertainment, no field for them. ( although we used the field for tents as only one there we asked them if we could let our dog run, they were very happy for us too and agreed how unfriendly it was. )
No WiFi unless paid silly amount which wasn't stated. In fact when we booked in the girl at the desk was on the phone and half seen to us we had to work everything out our self. Unlike the TV.
We were so disappointed. On way home we stayed at a small site that had everything for a dog friendly place and it was immaculate.

Liked Amazing site very clean and amazing facilities. A dog friendly site which is ideally placed just a short bus ride from looe. The site is well kept, and has good toilet and shower facilities. These facilities were immaculate, the cleanest i have seen. There is a footpath to the rear of the site. This is great of you like coastle walks etc.. the shop on site is great and has all the essentials you need. Overall a great stay and would definitely return.

Disliked On arrival, the pitch markings can be quite difficult to understand. Also, the road that excesses the site is very narrow and can be dangerous for walking on. Only minor things, this site is great.

Liked 2 days were fine on the Friday people started turning up with kids and the whole park changed even to two young girls scooting around the ladies toilets whilst my wife was trying to clean her teeth for bed just after 10pm

Disliked Kids turned up and parents just let them run wild

We had a lovely time overall. The shops were great — well-stocked…

Liked We had a lovely time overall. The shops were great — well-stocked with all the essentials, which was especially helpful for a first-timer like me who forgot quite a few things! The bar had a nice atmosphere with fun activities to enjoy, and the food was really good too.

The campsite itself was clean and well-maintained, with spacious and spotless toilet facilities, which made a big difference.

One thing we were disappointed about was the limited swimming pool timings. My partner and I didn’t get a chance to swim during our stay, which was a shame. It would be great to see extended or more flexible pool hours in the future.

Otherwise, it was a fantastic experience and we’d love to return!

Disliked There were not much time slot available for the swimming pool

Local attractions

Oodles of activities and attractions await once you’ve dragged yourself off site: pootle around Looe’s Harbour Quay, Banjo Pier and the 16th-century Old Guildhall in East Looe, or take a boat to Looe (St George’s) Island, where just once a year on a very low tide it’s possible to stroll to it across the sand. Sea-based sightseers can go from Looe to Fowey and take the ferry to Polruan or Bodinnick and the former house of Daphne du Maurier (Daphne and Rebecca fans can also go ghost hunting at Cornwall’s legendary coaching house at Bodmin Moor, said to be the county’s most famous smuggling inn). Most day trippers take a car for the 12-mile Looe-Fowey journey, but if you’re feeling energetic enough and want to see some stunning coastal scenery, the local South West Coast Path hike goes from West Looe to Polruan via Hannafore, Talland Bay and Polperro. You officially have full permission to get a bus or taxi back…
