Liked Lovely small site with mature trees and large grassy areas where kids can play. No playgrounds or fancy facilities but a very nice green well kept place to pitch your tent (or park your motor home) and relax. Very clean bathrooms and washing up station. Laundrette service available.

Disliked You can hear the motorway at night but we still slept very well, it's just some sort of white noise in the background and you won't notice it during the day.

Disliked Noise from shotguns and difficult exit back towards m25

From the manager: Thank you for your review Karen. We are pleased you liked the site and us.

We accept that we have to take the rough with the smooth but we must admit we are at a loss as to why you have marked the review down because of difficulty at an exit back to the M25. The shotguns are clay pigeon shooting which is no where near the park and only happens once in a while.

Can we please ask our customers again, when writing us a review, can they please only leave comments about the service they received and opinions of the park. These things are totally out of our control. Every time a customer marks us down for something like this, our average percentages drop and it takes an awful lot of 10/10's to get back where we were. We can't control the M25, planes flying over, the nearby road or the weather. We ask again, please do research before booking.

The Oak View Team. 😊

Liked Pretty surroundings, not too busy, lots of space between pitches, good washing up areas, easy access/entry, lots of things to see in the nearby area

Disliked Toilets/showers quite basic, proximity to motorway meant traffic could be heard throughout the night

From the manager: Thank you very much for your review Kate. We are pleased that you did have a list of likes , but sad that you had so many dislikes.

Most customers really like our showers and toilets and find them to be very modern. We would not be able to put up shelves on the toilet walls as this would stop them from being water tight as they are in one moulded sheet. This would also be a hazard and customers would be hitting their heads. We have to keep them simple for health and safety reasons. The plastic stools are for less able bodied customers to sit on.

Unfortunately, we can't move the road, and as we say on lots of our other reviews, we ask our customers to research where they are going, eg: proximity to roads etc before they book so that we don't get marked down for things that are out of our control.

Liked open space, free use of showers, host in reception very good feeling from her, walking in woods

Disliked not being able to keep car on pitch, but ended up liking that,no shop,no pub.but town not far, black horse pub 0,9 drive away ,no fires, camp fires even wood on bbq

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review Frank. That is very kind of you to say. 😊

We are not a big site and so we do not have the room for all of our customers to keep their cars on the grass pitches (customers with hardstanding may do if it fits) and it is also for the safety of your vehicle with lots of kids with footballs about. We need to keep what space we do have for the children to play. No one wants to look out of their tent at someone else's car.

Again, we ask our customers to do their research to see what we have on site.

As for fires, ABSOLUTELY NOT. This is our one big rule which is clearly stated on our PitchUp listing. This time of year, with no rain and everything bone dry, it would be total madness. We also have protected trees and young children on the park. Our customers are allowed a barbecue if gas, electric or charcoal and we advise keeping a bottle of water next to charcoal ones to be safe.

Having said all that, we would love to see you again sometime. The Oak View Team. 😊

Local attractions

Oak View Holiday Park is in prime position to traverse the best of Kent's countryside, coast, castles and well-known gardens – with Essex and its coast easily accessible too just to the north. Plenty of pedalling and perambulating opportunities are around the North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, such as the 153-mile route of the North Downs National Trail through from Farnham to Canterbury, passing the White Cliffs of Dover. This takes in the 119-mile Pilgrims' Way, the supposed route of Thomas Becket from Winchester to Canterbury Cathedral. Elsewhere in Kent, loads is on all year round in the 500 acres of parkland and formal gardens at lovely Leeds Castle (10 minutes’ drive), like free falconry displays, play areas, special events and making one's way intrepidly out of the castle maze. Also see Rochester Castle (20 minutes) on the east bank of the Medway for its 12th-century keep and stacks of historical info: the castle was sacked during the Peasants' Revolt, held for Henry III against the barons, and besieged (also because of barons) by bad King John. And of course, just next door is the Kent Showground, which hosts all sorts of events throughout the year (the most famed being the Kent County Show, which usually runs for three days in July).
