  • Peaceful, isolated site on a secluded Lancashire farm
  • A half-hour drive from Blackpool beach and Forest of Bowland
  • Simple grass pitches down a long farm track, 10 minutes from the M6
Oh to be on a peaceful, secluded spot in the lovely Lancashire countryside, with forests, the Lakes and big cities not far off… such is the atmosphere at Moss Rose Campsite, a relaxing site about 10 minutes’ drive from the M6 and half an hour north of Preston. This is a splendid spot for those who’d like a bit of peace and quiet – pitches are on a simple grass field well away from any neighbours. You’ll have to travel down a long farm track to get here (it’s rather rough and bumpy, so take it slowly) but the reward is a spacious and secluded stay on a small traditional family-run working farm with views out over fields of farm animals. (The owners describe it as ‘somewhat alike to The Darling Buds of May’, for those who remember such telly treats.) Because of those farm animals, dogs are welcome as long as they are well behaved and kept under control. Kids are also very welcome, and you’re able to set up barbecues for your evening meal (as long as you’re careful with them…) There’s a pub a couple of miles away if you fancy a pint or a bite to eat. Day trips around here might take you to the coast at Blackpool or Morecambe, inland to the Forest of Bowland or Lake District or for a bit of city action in Liverpool or Manchester, both of which are a little over an hour’s drive away (also making this site also a good place for city dwellers who fancy a quick escape without a long drive).

Liked lovely laid out site with big individual pitches.
helpful owners who are there if anything is needed
good playground for the children
honesty shack with bits and bobs.
other campers observed the quiet rules so nice and peaceful.

Disliked Not dislikes but general comments

more facilities needed (toilets, showers and cleaning spaces). would have been more of an issue if the site was busier.

Doyles Dell - Fully Enclosed primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite (secluded)

Liked We had a great weekend. Doyle's Dell was fantastic. Tons of space for the kids and dog and felt very secluded. Beautiful site, can see the effort that the family are taking to preserve the natural environment in their site. Butterflies everywhere. Owners were so friendly.

Peacock Pod camping pod (hot tub)

Liked on arrival everything was ready for us with the key in the door ready to go. Facilities were small but regularly cleaned and in great condition. The honesty shop was an added bonus! The pod itself was great and well stocked with kettle, mini fridge and cups. It was a lovely experience. The campsite itself was gorgeous, set amongst wild flowers and lush fields and seeing/feeding the sheep was especially lovely! Joe was on site regularly and happy to chat and check in with us! Couldn't have asked for a nicer stay!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The host, Joe, was excellent and made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The pitches are spacious and well laid out, giving a good sense of privacy rather than feeling crowded. The campsite is set in a lovely rural location with attractive surroundings, and its quiet, remote setting makes it ideal for a relaxing getaway.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked I really like this venue because there's a park in the middle where kids can play, and parents can comfortably watch them from a distance! The environment is also very peaceful! The staff were very friendly.

Disliked There is only one bathroom, and the environment is rather basic. The water pressure is also unstable. It would be better if the bathroom facilities could be improved!

Liked Fantastic!

The owners were soooo helpful and friendly and the whole site was super relaxed.

We used the campsite, pitch 3 is the perfect pitch, with a view of the hills!

My daughter and neice loved the park in the middle which entertained them the whole time!

The lovely honesty box shed's full of goodies, what a lovely touch, which are made by the owner's young son. They had everything you could need for camping! The facilities; shower, toilets and washing up area were really clean.

We will definetly come back if we are in the area again!

Thank you.

Local attractions

Before you get straight to your adventuring, there’s a farm shop and ice cream parlour called Wallings Ice Cream (15 minutes' drive) that will make sure your tummy’s well prepared for all the action. For action, the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (half an hour) is just the place - have a pedal between rural villages, picking up farm produce as you go. The Lake District National Park (45 minutes) has plenty more trails or watersports for those looking to get a dip in. But what about those city days out also? The bright lights of Blackpool (half an hour) are hardly far away, and for more sightseeing, Manchester (an hour and 10 minutes) and Liverpool (an hour and 15 minutes) make for some great day trips. If you’re a fan of the busy buzz and action Lancaster (half an hour) has museums and a city park or Morecambe (half an hour) has a splendid seafront… but for more wildlife instead, head to the Wild Discovery animal park (half an hour).
