  • Well maintained peaceful park
  • Playdale Farm Park 10 minutes’ drive; Scarborough 20 minutes
  • Play area, games room and indoor pool; restaurant and bar; launderette
Whether you’re after a hiking holiday, a spot of birdwatching or bracing good times at the seaside, coastal North Yorkshire always delivers. And at Spring Willows Caravan Park, you’re well placed for all these activities – and more besides. This family- and dog-friendly site sits close to the junction of the A64, which takes you straight into Scarborough (20 minutes’ drive), and the A1039, which you can follow all the way to Filey (15 minutes). From there, you can choose to spend a day at sandy, expansive Filey Beach, or head to Filey Brigg, a narrow, ragged promontory where there are reliable sightings of migratory and breeding birds. So that’s the beaches and birdwatching taken care of. As for the hiking, Filey Brigg marks the end (or the start) of the Yorkshire Wolds Way, a long-distance route crossing spectacular valleys, woodland and chalk hills. On site, grass pitches come with splendid views of the surrounding fields, and facilities include an indoor pool, a gym, a games room and a fenced-off children’s play area with climbing structures. If you’re into experimenting with your G&Ts, the S Club Bar and Restaurant has a pretty decent selection of gins. (How decent? Well, you might find it hard to work your way through the entire menu during your stay here…) If you fancy sipping your drink under a canopy of stars, the outdoor seating area has heat lamps and warm throws. A modern and pristine toilet block with hot-water showers (plus facilities for disabled guests), a washing-up area and a launderette complete the picture.

What customers say

Spacious pitches, great amenities (pool, hot tub, sauna, games room), and friendly staff. Food's good. Some touring pitches are sloped, and toilets could use an update/more availability. Still, most want to return!

Liked We have just returned from a fantastic stay and couldn’t be happier with our experience.

The toilets and shower facilities were absolutely immaculate throughout our visit. The site itself is beautifully maintained, with lovely grassed areas and plenty of space for our dog to enjoy. The views are simply stunning and made our stay even more special.

The clubhouse was clean, welcoming, and well looked after. The food was gorgeous, with very generous portion sizes that offered great value for money.

One thing that really stood out was the kindness and understanding shown towards my son, who has additional needs. He struggled with one of the main dishes due to sensory issues, and the owner personally came over to ask if there was a problem. After understanding the situation, they kindly offered him an alternative from the menu. That level of care and consideration meant a lot to us and was such a thoughtful gesture.

The swimming pool was also very clean and well maintained.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay and felt genuinely welcomed. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend this holiday park to others.

Liked Great camp site, would come back here again. Loved the private use of swim pool, hot tub etc. We were able to use it privately on both days we were there even though the camp site was busy. Around the camp site there is lots of grass to walk around with the dog, we even saw a barn owl flying over and was told its a regular here. Read lots of reviews that said you could hear traffic from the road but that wasn't something we noticed.

Disliked Would be great if there were some extra single toilets, the toilets are in the same cubicle as the showers which meant there was sometimes a bit of waiting on an evening to use the toilet when people were showering in there. Ground was also very hard so tent pegs were difficult to put in, recommend taking some screw in pegs if you have them. Would also be great if they had a shop on site, there is a shell garage just round the corner though.

Liked Very warm welcome from the lady on reception. Accommodating with our concerns re steep pitch offering other pitches . Swimming pool and bar area. (Pool closed one day due to technical issues)

Disliked Ground was extremely steep, unable to pitch Motorhome level despite using large chocks
Eventually managed to get it relatively straight on a different pitch but meant we did not have electricity despite paying for it!
Poor signage to the camping field.
Dogs off leads

Liked Spacious pitches, clean site, showers are lovely.

Disliked System for swimming pool. It’s best to book a slot although this is mentioned anywhere when booking, therefore if you don’t book up chances are you don’t swim

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked The open space and large pitches.
The swimming pool.
The cafe and facilities.
The location.

Disliked The fact that the showers and toilets are all in one. There was a few occasions when you're waiting for the toilet when someone is in the shower. It makes the wait for the toilet much longer.

Local attractions

Build a day out around the kids by taking them to Playdale Farm Park (10 minutes’ drive), where they can feed alpacas, handle guinea pigs or have a go at ziplining. Then head to the North Yorkshire Water Park (15 minutes), for climbing, bouncing and sliding on the inflatable adventure course. With its chequered floor and elegant colonnade framing views of the sea, the Sun Court at the Scarborough Spa (20 minutes) is a great spot for a drink, maybe accompanied by music from a live orchestra. A stroll along South Bay Beach takes you to a pretty marina lined with restaurants and the Luna Park theme park. A chalk outcrop jutting into the North Sea, Flamborough Outer Headlands Nature Reserve (half an hour) is a popular spot for birdwatching. The coastline around here is pretty spectacular, with tall cliffs and rock formations like the Drinking Dinosaur, where seals come for a rest.
