  • Well-maintained Norfolk site one mile from the Sandringham Estate
  • Within 10 minutes' drive of Hunstanton and Heacham beaches
  • Bar, adventure playground, dog-walking area and bicycle hire
Have you ever been to the Norfolk coast? Come and stay at Pine Cones Caravan and Camping, a mile from Sandringham Estate and a 10-minute drive from the beaches in Heacham and Hunstanton. At this well-maintained site, the staff aim to go out of their way to make sure that everyone's comfortable. There's something for everyone; kids tend to love the open space – teams can often be seen laughing over a game of football or other games – and spending hours on the play equipment. Meanwhile, all ages can unwind at the all-weather bar and terrace at Bens Bar, which is open at peak times for snacks, draught beer and other delicious drinks; live sports are also shown here. Dogs (up to two per booking) are very welcome and even get access to their own dedicated off-lead walking area and warm dog wash. Other on-site facilities include luxury individual bathrooms (each with a toilet, sink and shower), electric vehicle charging points and gas bottle sales. Takeaway food is served on site during peak times. At other times, simply stroll along to the two dog-friendly village pubs within walking distance. There are plenty of excellent walks and cycling paths from the site, with the Sandringham Visitor Centre only 20 minutes' walk away; hire a bicycle on site to get around quicker. Bus stops are nearby in Dersingham.

What customers say

Pinecones boasts a clean, well-kept site with friendly staff. Showers are individual and excellent. Pitches are spacious, with some having picnic tables or shelters. Great for families & dog owners, with good walks, a bar, and takeout. Some note road noise or Wi-Fi issues, but most guests want to return.

Pine Views FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked a beautifully set up camping experience. We particularly liked the defined boundaries of each pitch. Sometimes other sites are not as defined and this can cause issue. We also rate a site on its bathroom facilities. It was great to have all necessary amenities in the one room, making it easier. . We didn’t use the bar or cafe facilities but they appeared to be well used and welcoming looking in from the outside.

Disliked One thought would be to consider the gravel road, particularly on a bend where we were pitched. Banking of the gravel makes for an amplified ‘crunch’ even at 5mph as vehicles round the bend

Sandy Acres powered grass and sand campsite (small)

Liked Perfect location, clean facilities, friendly staff. Great bar and eating area. Will def return.

From the manager: Thanks for your 7/10 review. We're really pleased to hear you enjoyed our location, found the facilities clean, liked Ben's Bar and eating area, and that our team made you feel welcome. It's great to know you'll be returning.

Thank you also for your private feedback. We investigated the two hand dryers and found that a trip switch had operated in the main electrical board. This has now been reset, and both hand dryers are working correctly again.

We also checked the hot water system and found no faults. The water temperature can be adjusted manually by guests within each private bathroom, so it's possible the control had not been turned fully to the hot position.

We appreciate you bringing these points to our attention and look forward to welcoming you back to Pinecones soon.

Pine Views FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite (small)

Liked Very well kept, secure site. Facilities are excellent, you even get piped radio in the shower and toilet cubicles, which are all individually divided. Great playpark for the kids and an off lead run for the dogs. Friendly staff with an on site shop, bar and food service. Didn't notice the traffic on the nearby bypass at all. will definitely return.

Disliked Nothing!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for your fantastic review. We're delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the care we put into maintaining the site and keeping it secure.

It's wonderful to know you enjoyed our private bathroom facilities (and the music!), the play area, the off-lead dog run, and Ben's Bar with its food service. We're also pleased our team made you feel welcome and that the on-site shop added to your stay.

We're especially pleased to hear that the nearby bypass didn't affect your visit, as many guests find it's much quieter than they expect.

Thank you again for your kind comments. We really appreciate your support and look forward to welcoming you back to Pinecones for another great stay soon

Sandy Acres powered grass and sand campsite (small)

Liked The weather and the refund I received

Disliked Arrived to find that the 'grass and sand' pitch was actually gravel and compacted mud, full refund given when this was pointed out but the family holiday was thrown in the air!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed the weather and appreciated the refund we provided.

The exceptionally dry conditions this summer have unfortunately had a significant impact on grass across the UK. In fact, this has been reported as the driest period since records began in many areas, and the prolonged lack of rainfall has resulted in grass becoming completely brown, with the sandy soil beneath becoming exposed. Unfortunately, these are conditions that are entirely beyond our control.

The description for this pitch type does explain that some of our grass pitches include areas of green granite. This is intentionally installed to help reduce wear during busy periods while still allowing tents to be pitched. Under normal weather conditions it is very effective, but in such unprecedented drought conditions it is simply impossible to preserve the grass to the standard you were expecting.

Although we don't feel it would have been possible for any campsite to maintain a green grass surface in these extreme conditions, we were happy to provide you with a full refund as a gesture of goodwill. We're sorry that your holiday plans were disrupted and hope you were able to find suitable alternative accommodation.

Local attractions

Beaches, historic houses, museums and festivals, tiny villages, market towns and fab family days out are all easily accessible from Pine Cones Caravan and Camping. Within a couple of miles, the deer safaris, farming activities and walking trails of Snettisham Deer Park and the sights and smells of Norfolk Lavender are both good options for a day out; Snettisham has an RSPB reserve too for those itching to twitch. But as you're probably in west/north Norfolk for the beaches, head to Heacham, Holkham and Hunstanton first, the closest sands to Pine Cones, and then take a trip to Brancaster, 11 miles away; the family-friendly and very scenic sands of Sheringham, Cromer and Mundsley are a little further along the coast. (Also, the final scenes of Shakespeare in Love were filmed at Holkham, and all the beaches in these parts are fairly filmworthy, so bring your camera.) Other excellent options for days out include village hopping and shopping among the scenic sights of Dersingham, Holt, Fakenham, Aylsham and Burnham Market to pick up some local produce, or going along to one of Norfolk's festivals or events: there's usually something going on throughout the year. Pine Cones is also on the edge of the Norfolk Coast National Landscape – bring walking boots, crabbing nets and plenty of room for picnics.
