  • Well-maintained Norfolk site one mile from the Sandringham Estate
  • Within 10 minutes' drive of Hunstanton and Heacham beaches
  • Bar, adventure playground, dog-walking area and bicycle hire
Have you ever been to the Norfolk coast? Come and stay at Pine Cones Caravan and Camping, a mile from Sandringham Estate and a 10-minute drive from the beaches in Heacham and Hunstanton. At this well-maintained site, the staff aim to go out of their way to make sure that everyone's comfortable. There's something for everyone; kids tend to love the open space – teams can often be seen laughing over a game of football or other games – and spending hours on the play equipment. Meanwhile, all ages can unwind at the all-weather bar and terrace at Bens Bar, which is open at peak times for snacks, draught beer and other delicious drinks; live sports are also shown here. Dogs (up to two per booking) are very welcome and even get access to their own dedicated off-lead walking area and warm dog wash. Other on-site facilities include luxury individual bathrooms (each with a toilet, sink and shower), electric vehicle charging points and gas bottle sales. Takeaway food is served on site during peak times. At other times, simply stroll along to the two dog-friendly village pubs within walking distance. There are plenty of excellent walks and cycling paths from the site, with the Sandringham Visitor Centre only 20 minutes' walk away; hire a bicycle on site to get around quicker. Bus stops are nearby in Dersingham.

Popular, friendly, well-kept site w/ great, clean, private baths (often with music!). Spacious pitches, ideal for walks & exploring Sandringham. Good on-site food/drink. Minor road noise noted but not a big deal for most. Highly recommended!

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite (large)

Liked We had a lovely stay at Pinecones. The toilets were very clean and the cleaner was always friendly and welcoming. The pitches are spacious, well maintained, and having water and electric right by the pitch was really convenient.
It’s also in a great central location for visiting King’s Lynn, Sandringham and Hunstanton, with some lovely walks around the village too.
A peaceful, well-kept site in a really handy location. We would happily stay again

Disliked The road noise didn’t really bother us, although a few more lights along the path to the toilets in the evening would be helpful. This is only a suggestion rather than a complaint.
The only thing that left a slightly bitter taste was our arrival. My husband was towing our large caravan with his van, so together it was quite a long and difficult combination to manoeuvre. While I went to collect the envelope with our instructions from the box by reception, he stopped briefly on the drive to wait for me.
A lady approached him and told him that he needed to move because he was blocking the entrance. At the time there was no traffic, and there appeared to be plenty of space for other vehicles to get around, so we felt the manner in which this was handled was unnecessary. She did not introduce herself or explain her role, so my husband assumed she was either an employee or perhaps the owner.
When I later asked whether I needed to speak to her, I received a rather unfriendly response and was told quite abruptly that if we had two vehicles, one would have to be parked away from the pitch. We later saw the same lady several times walking her dog past our caravan and believe we also saw her in reception.
It was only a small part of an otherwise very pleasant stay, but unfortunately the interaction made our arrival feel less welcoming than it could have been. A friendly introduction and a little understanding while guests are trying to manoeuvre a large caravan would have made a big difference.

Pine Views FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite (comfort)

Liked I'll start with the positives

•Fantastic location for our primary reason for being in the area (Sandringham), very good communication from yourselves, site was nice and clean, the toilet / shower facilities were also spotless. The bar was a nice touch too...along with the picnic huts (though noisy)

Disliked • I imagine it will come as no surprise to you, as you really cannot miss it, but the road noise was to us, not what we have come to expect for a break away in our van. It was very off putting, even in the very early hours of the morn' it was busy and not conducive to a proper night's sleep, this was the main reason we left a night early as it was a bit too much for us I'm afraid

• The pitch felt some what compact to others we've pitched up on, we also enjoy a bit of privacy something we didn't feel we had on our pitch without us closing blinds etc', perhaps maybe allow the hedges to grow to maybe 5 foot or so....the services provided on the pitch though, were faultless

Liked Clean site with good facilities. Toilet blocks were clean. Nice setting, only 10 mins drive from from Hunstanton. 20 mins cycle to Sandringham.

Disliked Touring fully serviced pitches are quite small. You have to park your car across the front of your caravan and awning. As there was not much space some people were parking cars on the driveways in front of the pitches. This did not leave room to reverse your caravan into the pitches. Good that I had a motor mover. Had the same problem getting out. There were often queues for the toilet/showers. Not enough when the site is full. One of the toilet lights did not work. Another had a loose shower head that kept dropping down. There were no shelves in the toilets to stand toiletries and the basins were very small so no space. There was quite a lot of road noise.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We're pleased you found Pinecones clean, enjoyed our facilities and setting, and appreciated our location for Hunstanton and cycling to Sandringham.

We would like to clarify a few points raised. We offer a range of pitch sizes, including both smaller and larger fully serviced pitches, so it is important when booking to select the pitch type that best suits the size of your caravan, awning, vehicle and individual requirements.

We have two separate toilet and shower blocks on site. During busy periods there can occasionally be a short wait at the main block, but our second block at the top of the site is generally underused. We have signage specifically advising guests of this and encouraging them to use the quieter facilities.

Regarding storage within the bathrooms, all of our private shower rooms have a corner shelf specifically for toiletries.

We did identify one toilet light that had stopped working and one faulty shower during our regular facility checks. Both issues were dealt with, with the shower repaired the same day. With facilities being used continuously during busy periods, occasional faults can occur, which is why we carry out regular checks and aim to rectify anything we find as quickly as possible.

We appreciate your comments regarding vehicle parking and will continue to ensure guests park within their allocated areas so that the site roadways remain clear for access.

Finally, our location is directly on the A149 Dersingham Bypass and is clearly shown within our address and booking information. We appreciate that individual sensitivity to road noise can vary.

Thank you again for your feedback. We are disappointed that these points resulted in a 5/10 score, but we appreciate the opportunity to clarify them and are pleased you recognised the cleanliness, facilities and location of the site.

Liked We've just come back from a long weekend stay at Pine Cones and really enjoyed our time there. Our pitch was quiet, backing on to trees, away from the busy road.
My son (6) enjoyed the small play area although there was nowhere for older children to run around or play ball games.
We used the take away hatch 1 evening and the food was good and the wait was only about 10 minutes.
The toilets/showers were clean, but the floors were always wet as the toilet is directly next the shower.
The site is within a 10 minute drive to Sandringham Estate or to Hunstanston.

We also appreciate your helpful feedback regarding space for older children and the wet floors in the toilet and shower areas. We will certainly take your comments on board as we continue to improve the site.

Sandy Acres powered grass and sand campsite (small)

Liked It is a lovely campsite, with play parks for the kids, lots of wildlife to spot including deer and cheeky robins, plenty of lovely clean bathrooms, and hot showers with a decent pressure to them and the radio playing. That was a pleasant surprise.
The bar and food cabin was a nice place to sit in the evenings, with a nice array of drinks, and friendly staff.
Our welcome pack was available on self check in which contained all the information we needed, and it is off the main road, so easy to find.

Disliked We didn't dislike anything at all. In fact, we would love to come back! The only slightly picky suggestion would be to pop a soap dispenser in the dishwasher area please (but the toilets were not far, so that's just me being a little lazy).
Our particular pitch has also had a very hard season by the looks of it. It was meant to be a grass pitch, but it was mostly sandy soil and because it rained a lot this weekend, we did get quite a lot of surface water that invaded the tent. The weather cant be helped, in fairness.

From the manager: Thank you so much for your wonderful 9/10 review! We’re delighted to hear that you had such an enjoyable stay and loved the wildlife, play areas, clean facilities, hot showers, and even the radio playing in the background!

It’s lovely to know you enjoyed spending your evenings at the bar and food cabin, and that our friendly team and self-check-in welcome pack helped make your arrival easy and relaxing.

We really appreciate your helpful suggestion about adding a soap dispenser to the dishwasher area, and we’ll certainly take this on board. We’re also sorry to hear that the heavy rain caused surface water on your pitch. After such a wet weekend, we understand how frustrating this must have been, and we appreciate your understanding that the weather certainly didn’t help.

We’d absolutely love to welcome you back to Pine Cones again soon

From the manager: Thank you for your fantastic 9/10 review. We’re pleased to hear that you liked the pitches and the surrounding area.

We’re sorry that you experienced some slight flooding on your pitch. The rain during that period was absolutely torrential, which unfortunately led to some surface water in places. We completely understand that this would have been frustrating and appreciate your understanding.

We hope to welcome you back to Pine Cones again in hopefully much drier weather

Local attractions

Beaches, historic houses, museums and festivals, tiny villages, market towns and fab family days out are all easily accessible from Pine Cones Caravan and Camping. Within a couple of miles, the deer safaris, farming activities and walking trails of Snettisham Deer Park and the sights and smells of Norfolk Lavender are both good options for a day out; Snettisham has an RSPB reserve too for those itching to twitch. But as you're probably in west/north Norfolk for the beaches, head to Heacham, Holkham and Hunstanton first, the closest sands to Pine Cones, and then take a trip to Brancaster, 11 miles away; the family-friendly and very scenic sands of Sheringham, Cromer and Mundsley are a little further along the coast. (Also, the final scenes of Shakespeare in Love were filmed at Holkham, and all the beaches in these parts are fairly filmworthy, so bring your camera.) Other excellent options for days out include village hopping and shopping among the scenic sights of Dersingham, Holt, Fakenham, Aylsham and Burnham Market to pick up some local produce, or going along to one of Norfolk's festivals or events: there's usually something going on throughout the year. Pine Cones is also on the edge of the Norfolk Coast National Landscape – bring walking boots, crabbing nets and plenty of room for picnics.
