  • A 10-minute drive from Alton Towers and Uttoxeter Racecourse
  • Large family-friendly bar and restaurant with events and takeaways
  • Spacious beer garden with play area and large climbing frame
Up for theme park thrills? New Broom Camping and Caravan Site is 10 minutes' drive away from Alton Towers – and has a comfy number of amenities to have you sorted on site too. Set in two peaceful acres with flat grass pitches, the park has a traditional pub (which is both large and family-friendly) with a family restaurant. There's also a big beer garden with a play area. And it's all in the small Staffordshire village of Checkley, a short drive away from Uttoxeter Racecourse and The Potteries as well as Alton Towers. The pub serves decently priced drinks and meals including carvery, cooked breakfasts and pizza (pizza is available for takeaway too). It's got a pool table for evenings of friendly competition, and hosts regular events such as rock nights, tribute nights and darts nights. New Broom also has a toilet/shower facility that guests can use free of charge, 24 hours a day.

Friendly staff, great pub food, and convenient for Alton Towers. Clean facilities, warm showers. Road noise manageable for most. Minor notes on shower block size & occasional muddy spots.

Powered grass tent campsite

Liked Friendly team, spacious pitches, flat pitches and the amazing pub food.

Disliked Busy road can be noisy so take good earplugs. Only 1 shower for each gender and 2x toilets. We didn’t have to wait but can imagine on peak dates there would be a queue.

Primitive grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked spacious pitches

Disliked RIDICULOUSLY NOISY as pitches right by main road. 10AM check out. Ladies toilets need looking after, only two cubicles and one has a broken seat and the other no lock. Shower was freezing cold even though I went really early when nobody was up. A warning that no purpose built bbqs would be allowed (as opposed to what the website says) would have helped as we only brought bbq food with us - understand the current situ but the ban is on disposable and the website still says bbqs allowed if raised.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Location for us was great as we were going to Alton Towers with 2 young children. It was convenient having the pub with the play area after the long busy days out! The food in the pub was lovely and the overall service was great. The facilities are well maintained and clean. The staff are very friendly and made us feel welcome.

Disliked Probably the only downside was the location of the busy & noisy main road which had overnight lorry traffic due to nearby overnight road works currently being carried out, however we were told about this upon arrival and were offered ear plugs (we didnt use them). The noise didn't bother us as we were so tired from the busy days out. We all slept like a dream!

Primitive grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked We (my daughter and I) only had a short 1 night stay after having a day at Alton towers we arrived around 730pm, we were shown where we could pitch up (non electric)but was informed that more traffic was passing through due to a road closure so we were offered an electric pitch a little further away from the road which we decided to take. We were also given ear plugs. All staff could not do enough for our short stay and the food was lovely too. It rained through the night and was still raining when we were supposed to pack away, I waited it out an extra half hour so could at least pack away when not raining. We were not rushed off site which I thought was lovely. Facilities fine for a short stay would definitely go back. Thank you.

Pub Car Park primitive cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked It’s a great site and plenty of room. We upgraded to a field pitch. Play area nice enough. Food excellent. View lovely. Just down the road is a community centre with another playground and a Milk shed selling coffee, mulkshakes and fresh produce. Lovely local football too.

Disliked Wanted to get my wrench out to fix up the playground. One swing missing which caused a bit of kid drama, but they worked it out. Quite close to a main road, which is busier than normal right now due to road works, but it wasn’t too bad.
