New Broom Camping and Caravan Site: Park

General

  • A ten-minute drive from Alton Towers and Uttoxeter Racecourse
  • Large family-friendly bar and restaurant; try the site's own bitter
  • Spacious beer garden with kids' play area and large climbing frame

Up for theme park thrills? New Broom Camping and Caravan Site is ten minutes away from Alton Towers – and has a comfy number of amenities to have you sorted on site too.

Set in two peaceful acres with flat grass pitches, the park has a traditional pub (which is both large and family-friendly) with a family restaurant and – many brownie points – its own New Broom Bitter. There's also a big beer garden with a kids' play area and a bouncy castle. And it's all in the small Staffordshire village of Checkley, a short drive away from Uttoxeter Racecourse and The Potteries as well as Alton Towers.

The pub serves decently priced drinks and meals including carvery, cooked breakfasts and pizza (pizza is available for takeaway too) and hosts regular events such as rock nights, tribute nights and darts nights.

New Broom also has a shower facility that guests can use free of charge.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

The restaurant is open between 01/01 and 31/12.

Minimum spacing of 2 metres between pitches.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Bookings must not consist of more than 2 different households.

I really enjoyed my stay! It was just me and my daughter camping and we were instantly welcomed, the campsite was cosy and secure and I loved the fact my daughter was welcome to play in the pub/restaurant garden directly next to it, we ate and drank in there both nights we stayed. It was only 20 mins away from alton towers and an easy drive to get there so a great spot. I would definatly go back and thank the staff for their friendly and welcoming environment :)

Friendly small site , absolutely amazing main courses (especially the Bangkok Badboy!!!!!) at the pub and staff were so helpful and kind, very relaxed atmosphere.

I would say this was a great site for young children the park area is fabulous.

Facilities are a couple of showers and a couple of toilets in a portacabin. They were kept clean, not amazing facilities but still a 5 star!.

The family, friendly atmosphere. The owner and staff are so helpful and friendly food, drinks responsibly priced and yummy.
The pitches were nicely spaced apart.
The garden with the little park in was perfect to grab some shade and a nice cold drink.
It was above 28'c everyday the staff were excellent with letting the children have little water fights with the hose pipe.
Again it's a must visit tesco and other stores/shops just a short drive away.

The campsite was perfect, just off of the main road there were 4 feilds to choses from and was situated next to a lovely pub with very accomidating staff.

Small play area for kids located by the pub.

The facilities were standard porta-cabins but very clean. Wahing up facilities and clean drinking water were also provided.

Only a 15 minute drive to alton towers which was a massive bonus

    Disliked:

There was no clear area to put rubish but was poped in the large bin by the pub and had no issues
