  • Quiet site on a Leicestershire field 10 minutes’ drive from Hinckley
  • Mallory Park or Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre 10 minutes’ drive
  • Seasonal produce in the farm shop; breakfast and lunch available
Leicestershire bound? Perhaps you’ll end up at Bradshaw Farm, a site on a working farm situated between the two rural villages of Stapleton and Dadlington, with Hinckley 10 minutes’ drive away. Pitches are on a nicely level field, and there are simple shared shower facilities. Every last weekend of the month (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and on bank holidays, the site has a range of wine, beer and spirits for guests to buy. There’s also a well-stocked farm shop across the road, where you can pick up seasonal fruit, veg, fresher-than-fresh organic produce and home-grown plants; you can order a hearty cooked breakfast and tasty lunch there too. If you’re looking for a decent selection of pubs and restaurants to try, Hinckley (10 minutes’ drive) is the place to head for; you can top up on any other supplies from the supermarkets while you’re there. In general, this place is a fine choice if you want to get away for some R&R in the countryside. On the other hand, it may not be quite so peaceful on the weekend of July 17–20, when a gathering of the UK’s best tribute bands will be playing at Leicestonbury music festival on the farm, just across the road from the camping field.

Primitive grass campsite (pet friendly)

Liked No fuss,no drama.Turned up parked up..was greeted by Richard and then his wife..really friendly welcome, we were shown what was where and any issues just come and see us!..We popped over to the farm shop and bought some lovely fresh eggs..Two packets of biscuits and also some lovely tasty pork sausages for breakfast..Lovely big field with plenty of level pitches. No EHU, but what do you want for £10 per night..basic but clean shower available at no extra cost..Portaloos,drinking water, farm shop, and so so quiet..Dog friendly too..Came for 1 night and have stopped for 3.

Bell tent (six person, basic)

Liked Basic, back to nature campsite. We stayed in a pre pitched bell ten which was perfect for me and a little person.Whats nice is you can walk around all the fields, they all have big boarders. The staff/owners were nice and friendly.I would recommend going here.

Disliked Nothing really,if they grow the site a porta cabin style toilets would be better.

Primitive grass campsite (pet friendly)

Liked Great value for £10. Massive field and pitch, and great countryside location. We only live 10 miles away, but wanted somewhere local to escape for the night. Will come back again

Disliked Not the sites fault, but there was a dog from another camper who had managed to get into our toilet tent and was eating our rubbish and licking our dirty plates and bowls at 3am. Would be good to reiterate to other campers to keep pets in leases

Liked Did not stay due to messy grounds

Disliked Messy and poor communication. Garbage and debris everywhere.

From the manager: Well to be honest for £10 per night for your pitch u would have to pay more to put said dog in a kennels! Can’t believe u did not come and speak to us if there was a serious problem, but hey happy not to have you back 😊

From the manager: Hi, for the £10 a night u paid for your pitch u would have to pay much more at kennels for the dog so maybe think about how rude u have been and if you had a problem why not talk to us , it was 50 mph winds how do u expect us to clean debris of blown Down tents etc in that weather , very unfair review look forward to you not coming back , thanks

Local attractions

When golf is your game, you’ll be pleased to know there are several courses within about 20 minutes’ drive of the site. For watching high-octane pursuits like motor-bike racing, you’ll have to catch the right day at Mallory Park Racing Circuit (10 minutes’ drive). Take a waterside stroll in Market Bosworth Country Park (10 minutes), or learn more about the notorious battle of 1485 on guided walking tours at Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre (also 10 minutes), where the kids can dress up as knights for the day and there are occasional weekend enactments of fiercely fought medieval battles. If you’d like to know more about the infamous King Richard III, whose remains were found in a Leicester car park, visit his royal tomb at the King Richard III Visitor Centre (40 minutes). Still in the city, you can clamber aboard rockets at the National Space Centre, and let off steam in East Street Lanes bowling alley (both make great choices for any rainy days with the offspring).
