General

  • Family-run site with on-site fishing and wild water swimming
  • In a peaceful rural location but near the M50
  • Over 28 acres of landscaped grounds and a conservation area

Although it's deep in countryside in rural Herefordshire, Woodside Country Park is a place well placed for other locations, as it's just outside Ledbury, is close to the M50 and is easily accessible to the attractions and activities of Gloucester, Hereford and Worcester.

There's lots of countryside stuff to do on site and all around too: this family-run park has coarse fishing and wild swimming on site, gentle walks, wildlife spotting and birdwatching – and all in 28 acres of prettily landscaped grounds and a conservation area to encourage wildflowers and wildlife.

Guest facilities at Woodside include three shower and toilet blocks, washing-up facilities and a launderette.

A good, basic site for tent pitches, for trying out Wild Camping.09/17/2019

A great site if you like the 'hands off' approach... the staff were friendly and available if needed, but otherwise unobtrusive, which we liked. The pitching field was level, dry and not covered in cow pats, so children can run around without worry. The shower was hot, as was the water for washing up, and fresh drinking water freely available. There are several ponds, the main one soft-bottomed and suitable for swimming, others containing wildlife. There were plenty of dogs around (we had ours with us too) but in the main most owners kept their dogs on leads/lines as per site rules. The site is well placed for trips to Ledbury - A few minutes away by car - Hereford, even Ross on Wye for a nice day out. Altogether a good, well maintained site that is recommended to families as well as more mature couples such as ourselves.

    Disliked:

The timer on the shower in the Mill area was ridiculously short, bursts of less than a minute - great for a handbasin but no good for a shower! There is no site shop, and the nearest small shop is a car ride away, so be sure not to run out of milk or tea bags.

From the manager...

Many thanks for your comments, we will certainly look at the timer length in the cider mill showers, thank you for drawing it to our attention. With regards to a shop, we do have a small shop on site that sells basics such as tea bags, baked beans, toothbrushes etc, as well as sweets, charcoal and logs. We struggle to have milk and bread and fresh products all year around ( we do try to have milk for our peak weekends). I hope this helps and we hope you can come back and see us again

Local attractions

Nearby Ledbury is a lovely little market town famed for its cobbled streets and black and white timber-framed buildings: look out for and take a snap of the Market House in the town centre.

The town is at almost equal distance from the cathedral towns or 'Three Counties' of Gloucester, Hereford and Worcester and a day should surely be had at each: Gloucester for its Harry Potter-scened cathedral and many museums; Hereford for the Old House, Hereford Cider Museum and Hereford Cathedral's Mappa Mundi; and Worcester for its library The Hive and the Three Choirs Festival (Worcester Cathedral by night is a spectacular sight too).

The countryside surrounding Woodside Country Park is known for its Herefordshire sights like hopyards, cider orchards and Hereford cattle, while walkers and cyclists come to this part of the land to hike or bike the Malvern Hills and the Forest of Dean.
