Negativ Thought the facilities in the barn should have been cleaner. No hot washing up water available in the outside clean up area and only 1 outdoor working shower.

Negativ Compost toilets , other facilities not well kept and too big of a walk from your tent for washing up ect. Very roudy guests till 2.30am kept us all awake .

Positiv Great location and facilities. Lovely hot showers at the top of the hill, flushing toilets as well as compost ones. Games and shop in the cow shed. Firepits and benches for each pitch. Stream, pond, hill, swings, open space - has it all. Lots for young kids to explore, see and do. This was our second stay and we loved it both times. Hopefully we will be back again next year!

Positiv Loved this site. Pitches are a great size, each with a picnic bench and a firepit which was a great touch.

Lots of areas for the kids to explore, with hidden rope swings. The stream was a great hit with my 2.

The barn at the top of hill has some basic amenities to purchase including milk, which was helpful. And there are games including table football and table tennis which the kids enjoyed on a rainy day.

We didn't use the showers near the actual pitches so can't comment on these but the showers in the barn were hot and powerful (and no push buttons).

The absolute bonus for us was the washing machine and tumble dryer, which was free to use. With 2 kids in tow, this was a wonderful touch, and I wish more campsites offered this!

The night sky is incredible here given how remote it is. We were lucky enough to watch the meteor shower and feel we couldn't have picked a better place to watch it!

Negativ We were not a fan of the composting toilets down by the pitches, but for a quick wee they were fine! Saved by the fact there are proper flushing toilet at the top of the hill (added bonus, you get your steps in).

The campsite itself, is remote, and almost everything is at least a half hour drive away. Again, this is not neccesarily a dislike or a complaint, just something which others may wish to factor in.

Friendly, relaxed, helpful host.
Fire pit and picnic table at each pitch.
Relaxed vibe.

Positiv The campsite itself is really good, electrical hookups and the land that we had anyway, was flat. The stream (Croglin Water) running along side the campsite was a nice feature and has a nice spot for cold water dipping, there is washing up facilities for dishes etc close by with drinkable water and the campsite was quiet.

Negativ The main facilities (the good showers and toilets) are a bit of a distance from the campsite itself and up a steep hill from the campsites, there are some toilets and showers nearer, but its compost toilets which none of our party could really stomach the smell and the showers were pretty weak, I do believe the plan is to upgrade the compost toilets next year which would be a much welcome upgrade. The pond for fishing needs some TLC, the water surface is almost totally covered in Algea, and the hooks kept getting caught in the weeds and gunk at the bottom of the pond (bottom fishing for Carp), there is maybe only 2 spots for fishing and aren’t proper clearances, which is a shame, this pond could really be a feature of the campsite if they cleared all the surface algae and dense vegetation surrounding the pond it would be an amazing feature.
