This is one of those excellent locations that’s both thoroughly rural and also highly convenient. The Afterlands is a simple site in the Northumberland Coast National Landscape, with fantastic views across the surrounding fields towards the sea in the distance, but with village and other amenities handily close by. The majority of those amenities are in Embleton, which is 15 minutes’ walk away and home to a couple of pubs and a farm shop. Even closer are the gift shop, café and pizza shop just over the road, and the bus stops just outside the site (for services to Alnwick, Berwick-upon-Tweed and Bamburgh, among other places). This location also puts you within easy reach of all sorts of ways to fill your days, whether you fancy taking an easy half-hour walk from the site to Embleton Bay, checking out the area’s many castles or boarding boat trips to the wildlife-filled Farne Islands. Walks, bike rides and birdwatching are all popular local activities, and there are surf beaches (and surf lessons) close by as well. Life on site is pretty simple – you’ll be staying in a large open field with plenty of space for your awning, gazebo and camping chairs for a comfortable stay. There are portable toilets for use in the field, but please note there are no showers or electric connections on site.

Ruhiger, geräumiger Campingplatz für Naturliebhaber mit einfachem Komfort. Gäste loben die Ruhe, viel Platz und schöne Aussicht. Tolle Lage nahe Embleton und Strand. Pizza- und Coffeeshops werden gelobt. Einfache, meist saubere Toiletten, aber wenig bei Andrang. Straßenlärm wird erwähnt.

Positiv The space was lovely, the granddaughter loved seeing the farmer work his field and waving to the family, well we all enjoyed that bit 🤣. Portaloos were clean and loads of toilet paper! Board telling you where to go for the beach etc. Very peaceful, lovely area. Shame the pizza place wasnt open when we were there but i just see that as another reason to visit again. 😁

Negativ The road noise which they cant help. We are not used to it so it was probs more noticeable. It would not stop us from going again.

Positiv Spacious, grassy pitches - just rock up and pick a spot. Relaxing and peaceful, with sea views across the fields. Lovely walk through the woods down to Embleton Bay and across to Dunstanburgh Castle on the coastal path, or nice walk up to Low Newton the other way. 3 portaloos, all spotless when we were there with plenty of toilet paper and hand sanitiser. Pitches back onto the road, but it's not busy and there are trees so we weren't bothered by traffic noise.

Negativ Embers (amazing pizzas) was closed - if it's a dealbreaker for you, check it's open before booking a pitch!

Positiv Everything - rural yet very handy for Embleton village centre shops and pubs etc. The facilities are very clean and exactly as billed. Our second visit, great place to stay.

Positiv Brilliant location opposite embers pizza emporium - top class wood fired pizzas cooked by George- possibly the best pizzas in the north east. 20 min walk to a beautiful beach through woods and fields. 3
Portaloos provided which were clean with plenty of paper, and a water tap at the edge of the field

Negativ Not much. Next to the road but not busy. Relatively expensive - there are similar sites around for less cash
